GUI 125-4 pilot assembly from standing pilot to sparking unit - how do you install?

Thank you for the response. We have replaced the gas valve upon recommendation of a repair technician. He also suggested a replacement of the pilot assembly. The only assembly I could find was the sparking one. I will return the assembly and try harder to find the standing assembly.

I hope you are aware that there is more to just changing a standing pilot system to a spark pilot system. You need to install an ignition module(for intermittent spark), a new gas valve for spark ignition(will possibly need adjusting), and a new pilot/spark assembly. This installation should only be attempted by a QUALIFIED service tech. I only tell you this because I am concerned for your safety. We had 1 home owner in my community blow himself up along with his house last winter when he was working on his propane forced air furnace. Gas furnaces can be very dangerous or fatal to you if your not well versed in the operation of them. Again, I am only concerned for your safety.

Light the pilot light on weil mclain gas boiler

Joanne If there is a standing pilot on the boiler. Put the gas valve to the pilot setting and push in on the valve while holding a long match or BBQ lighter @ the pilot assembly that is behind the small access port at the top of the gas train assembly. Dont hold the pilot knob doun without having a flane @ the gas outlet of the pilot assembly or gas will build up and could blow out of the port and hold the gas valve in for about a minute or two and let it go it should stay light when you let it go .If it does not sta lit and it IS a standing pilot there- is a thermo-coupling that may be bad If the pilot does not stay lit.
If there is an electronic ignition rather than a standing pilot then you do not need to light it will light itself if the electronic ignition is bad or if the flame sensor is dirty. If you remove the pilot assembly from the gas train and clean the flame sensor rod with a piece of .0000 steel wool it could help. If not you may want to call a licensed pipe-pitter ( OR plumber depending where you live and the local codes).
If you don't thing you could do it yourself then call a licensed pipi-fitter or plumber. (Gas only has to leak once for there to be a problem so please do call someone licensed if you don't think you could do it your self.), http://www.weil-mclain.com/en/weil-mclain/products-services/
Here is a link to the manufacturer you should be ale to fing your equipment and the install instructions, if you look around .You can download a PDF and print it
Good luck and stay warm

Strong gas smell burners will only light with a match ,,how do you get the pilot light to stay on with a match

Are you sure you have a pilot light and not spark ignition?
If you have standing pilot as you imply, then just clean the aperturec through which the pilot flame stands. That will do it.
Get a fine wire to open the aperture at the pilot.
Gently place the wire in the aperture and move it around to clean. you may want to vacuum the pilot assembly first so as not to block the apertures any worst.

How do i light the poilt light on a comfortmaker

depending on how old the unit is varies... if you actually have a pilot assembly you will hold down the pilot valve located on the gas valve adn you would turn dial to pilot and push down red button or knob itself the stick a long match in pilot assembly area and lite...once lighted keep holding down for about 15 seconds to get thermocoupler hot adn then rotate dial to on...if it goes out star toperation again and if continues then the copper thermocoupler next to pilot assembly is dirty or bad... if you don't have a pilot assembly and unit is within last 10 years or so you may have a hot surface ignitor in there and it automatically glows on the call for heat and will lite..if your not seeing it its made of porcelein and could have cracked or went out.... some units also have spark ignition and originates from the board and then will go to a spark module ....repost if you have more questions a/c & heat servicer for 18 years...

I cannot find the sensor on my York Diamond 80 - the electrical ignition comes on, but it won't stay on long enough to light the burners. If I stand there and fan it it they will stay lit, but when it...

I dont know if cleaning the flame sensor will work but it cant hurt.should b a steel pin just in front or to the left of the piolt assembly.pilot flame when lit has to touch the rod.the spark electrode itself can b it or could be seprate probe.on the pilot assy.

How do you clean the pilot? I am getting a white tip on my standing pilot. When the unit fires up the tip of the blames accross the burner a solid blue.

With unit off, try using a tube to blow into the pilot assembly. White tips are caused by the primary air opening being plugged with lint or dust. Try putting a piece of small pipe on the hose to focus the air stream and really push it clean.

Kenmore gas oven model no. 273 3248296 pilot free ignition wont fire up

Hi

If it won’t fire then it is possible that the oven control is not sending gas for the pilot light. The pilot light works but no main burner ignition - possible pilot assembly is dirty and the pilot flame is too small, safety valve and thermocouple is faulty, the bulb from the safety valve is out of position and the pilot flame is not touching the thermocouple bulb. Some ranges use a standing pilot light ( small flame is on all the time ) while others use an spark ignition to light the pilot light flame and the pilot light flame heats up the thermocouple bulb to allow the main gas to flow through the oven burner.
The flame needs to heat the bulb up enough to tell it to open the gas valve. Several things can go wrong here that keep this from happening:
The pilot flame may not be hot enough, usually because the flame is yellow instead of pure blue or is too small. The cause for this is usually a dirty pilot assembly. The pilot assembly would either need to be cleaned or replaced.
The thermocouple bulb may not be positioned properly in the flame. You can't heat the bulb properly if it's not in the pilot flame! The thermocouple bulb needs to be in the upper third of a pure blue pilot flame--that's the hottest part of the flame.
The thermocouple itself may be burned out. It happens. It's an internal part of the gas valve so, no, you can't just change the thermocouple bulb separate from the gas valve.
But when you turn on the oven or the thermostat calls for heat, the pilot flame gets bigger and jumps down so it can heat up the thermocouple bulb. This extra gas to increase the pilot flame size comes from the thermostat.
If the pilot flame jumps upwards or just gets bigger, but doesn't shoot down, then you need to replace the pilot assembly.
If the pilot flame size does not increase or jump down when turning on the oven thermostat, then the problem is the thermostat not sending enough gas to the pilot assembly. It's also possible that the pilot gas supply tube has a hole in it somewhere.
One final point on the spark-assisted pilot ignition systems. The spark comes from the spark module--the same module that sends spark to your surface burners to light them up. If you're not getting a spark when you turn the oven on, then there are several possibilities:
There could be a problem with the switch in the thermostat. You can confirm this by doing a simple continuity test of the thermostat contacts. If you don't read zero ohms when you turn the switch on, replace the thermostat.
The spark module could be bad. You'll need to measure the voltage at the oven terminals of the spark module when you turn on the oven. If you get 120v but no spark, it's probably a bad spark module. Replace it.
Could be a bad spark wire or broken electrode.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
