Question about GE Refrigerators

GSH25JFRFWW evaporator fan makes loud deep noise at times

GSH25JFRFWW evaporator fan makes noise like it is rubbing against housing. I can turn refrig off, wiggle fan blade, turn refrig back on and noise is gone for a while. It happens less if I take the ice maker out.

GE refrigerators have a faulty design, and so don't defrost completely, so ice builds up in the evaporator coils and on and in the evap. fan motor. Melting the ice will make the fridge more efficient, and the fan quiet again.

The slow, easy way to fix is take out all the food, unplug the fridge, leave doors open all day. Ice will melt, and all will be fine ... for a few months, until the ice builds up again. The fast way is here.

Visually inspect the fan and the inside of the fan housing. It sounds like it's rubbing against something or is loose and therefore rubbing against something. May be as simple as adjusting and tightening a bolt or removing something that got into the fan housing.

Our refrigerator is making a high pitched ringing/buzzing sound. Any way to fix this? Thanks!

You need to pull the refrig. out from the wall and determine the source of the noise. It maybe comming from the "condensor fan" usually located at the bottom rear. The blade maybe rubbing against something. Eg. paper or shield around the fan. It is also possible that the noise is comming from the inside. In this case, it could be the "evaporator fan" rubbing against something. Good luck ...Jerry

GE Side by Side Refrig - loud noise behind the ice maker section Model PSS25SGMB BS

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone

Loud fan

The fan is rubbing against the fan shroud. it may be misaligned or, the shroud has become loose. try aligning the shroud or making sure that it is screwed on correctly. The shroud mounting screws can become loose. This will allow the fan to rub against the shroud. this will create a loud noise. If during the inspection of the shroud you find that the fan is not rubbing against the shroud, this will confirm an issue that concerns the integrity of the electric motor sator assembly. the windings are bad. have the motor replaced if this is the case.

Lous Noise

It could be the blower fan is loose and needs to be tightened. If so, and you're handy, shouldn't be too difficult. Depends on the specific design.
