Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

1 Answer

The volume on my Toshiba Tv/DVD combo does not output very high. On the highest setting we have trouble hearing it at our kitchen table. Is there a way to adjust the volume, or can we connect external speakers, and will that help?

Check the panel if it has audio output for earphones. You can connect an external speaker there provided you have the matching jack. The external speaker has to be stronger than the one installed on the TV for you to observe the improvement. As for the volume should there be no port, there may be an issue with the resistor inside the TV. It may need cleaning or replacing. Check as well the wires and the connections if there are loose ones. The one that regulate the volume is the resistor which increases its resistance should you want low volume and increase resistance should you need more juice.

I have a sharp tv with the volume at its highest but i can't hear anything

Hello
Check its speaker first. If voice coil of the speaker or tis cone paper has damaged, speaker will produce a dull low sound output. If the speaker is found OK, check the audio output section of the unit. This section circuits can be located inside the TV circuit board. look for any loose or bad soldering terminals at the audio output IC. It is best to resolder all the suspected solder points by applying a little more solder, withut making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals. If this also does not help you, replace the audio output IC. It is damaged. OK.

I have a philips universal remote and i need the code for my tv which is a sv2000 with the dvd player built in

Hello crystal and welcome to FixYa. I think you were searching for the remote codes for a SV2000 TV/DVD Combo. Generally speaking TV/DVD Combos do not have a traditional codeset but instead use a DVD one instead. Follow these steps below.

Search the TV codes Using AV1 or AV2

Press and hold Mute and Select for two blinks

Enter 9 11

Enter 2

Press and release Volume Up

Press and release Channel Up until you hear the volume change

Next after hearing the volume change press Select to lock in the code

You should be all set. I hope this solution works out for you and good luck.

The TV is black but the fuse is good. I was told that it might be the horizontal output transistor. Where is it on that model?

If the fuse is intact in all probability the power supply unit is OK. If your Horizontal Output Transistor fails you will hear a high pitch whistling sound . Any way its the black three legged device mounted on an aluminum heat sink near a transformer from which a Red wire goes to the top of the picture tube.

Sound but no picture

This indicates a failure in the horizontal output section where the high voltage for the CRT is produced and the deflection signal for the horizontal sweep.
Some parts may be available for this set although it is doubtful whether the flyback transformer is still made. Some parts for you set can be found here:

The sound on all the stock kits I found to be too low. What I did was create a custom kit and altered the dynamics of all the pads and cymbals - once you're in the dynamics settings, just hit the pads/cymbals the hardest you normally would and save that setting!

Toshiba 13' tv dvd combo, Fios remote control need code

Greetings!

Here are the codes: take a deep breath:

0181, 1283, 0183, 1292, 0087, 0677, 0859, 0872, 1183, 1383, 1683, 1731

You may find that these don't work. Often, with combination pieces like yours, you will find you are lucky if you can get a universal remote to turn it on and change the volume and little more. The fact that Toshiba did not build this peice can compound the problem. My suggestion, if you can't get the universal to program up, is to use the original remote for the set. If you do not have the original remote it is available from www.encompassparts.com for around $15.00 plus shipping. The original part number for the Toshiba remote is 72796929.

Good luck!

Bob, you need to first raise the volume on the actual cable box itself. On each cable box there is a channel (up and down) as well as volume (up and down). Set the cable box volume to maximum, you can only do this manually at the cable box. This should work.
