Question about Insignia IS-LCDTV32 32 in. Television

1 Answer

My Insignia TV we have had for only a little over a year, my mom didn't get the extended warranty and now it won't turn on. The power light in the front will flicker dimly green when you hold it down but will not completely power up. We called a repair man from the company and it cost 100 dollars for him to just come to our house, he looked at the TV, didn't do anything, took our money and left. Is there any way I can fix this problem myself?

Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

It sounds like the power supply board has failed. On TVs that are this age this is a very common problem. Contact the extended warranty company and have them send a tech out.

It'll turn on and run but it flickers the entire time. its happened before but quits after a while. this time though, it won't stop. any suggestions?

Best bet would be to unplug it completely and let it sit for about five minutes, plug it back in and turn it on, if it's still flickering there's more than likely something wrong with the backlight or the power supply. All Insignia TV's carry a 2 year manufactures warranty, so if it's less than two years old just take it to a Best Buy and have it serviced. It'll be gone for a few weeks, but either issue is an expensive fix.

My tv starts on at least the green button goes on, but we don't see nothing on the screen

Insignia are a low-end Best Buy brand, and as such their reliability is poor.

If you're plugged in, the inputs are set correctly and the power comes on on the TV but you receive no picture, there is an issue with the TV itself.

Insignia offers a 2-year warranty, but you must have the original box and must be willing to pay for shipping. If you lack the original box or your purchase was longer than 30 days ago and you didn't purchase the extended warranty from Best Buy, you're most likely going to need a new TV, as they cost more to repair than they're worth.

Tv does not turn on

The most common issue is a failed backlight.
The TV will turn on, there is a dim light from the screen for a few seconds, and the TV blinks a red light (or the green power light).
All the problems that cause this are an issue for warranty or extended warranty. you are not likely to spend the money out of warranty.

My Insignia 32" hdtv shut off suddenly while we were watching tv,and now we can't turn it on. The green power light flashes on and off constantly. My big question is, is this fixable, and if so, how much...

Is it not still under warranty? T.V's always come with a standard warranty, I always opt for the extended version. Depending on how much you paid for the T.V in the first place which is going to be the cheapest? fix or replace? Most engineers offer a no fee call out.

Insignia lcd 37''powering off and right back on by itself!

Hi Ed,
Since the TV is less then a year old and still under manufacturers warranty, I would suggest to take back to the vendor to get it fix because this LCD behavior is not going to get any better.
The failure on this TV is related to a power supply in most cases if the TV is turning OFF by itself or needs to be unplug to let cooldown and it works afterward.

There are other places you can take monitors to get worked on. I believe just about any TV repair facility will also be able to repair LCD TV's as well. You may want to first try something else first however. Go buy yourself a UPS Battery Backup that has AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) built-in. I'd try doing that before paying someone to try and fix it. Besides, if that doesn't do the trick, then you can always take it back for a full refund.
