Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

Hi there. I have an older Laptop from Compaq a 1700T (Model Number 17XL3)which works fine but there is a problem with parts of the surfaces inside and out. This Laptop has a middle part outside which is made of a kind of rubber also inside the hand-resting area under the keyboard is made of this material. Now this material is pretty sticky and I have my fingers and shirts full of this black rubber material. As I think this is a bad production problem I was thinking that there was propably a recall or something from the manufacturer to solve this problem. Do you know about this problem and what does the manufacturer offered for solutions? Thanks in advance, Peter

I am aware of such issues with some of the much older laptops. The color protector that they used was easy to rub off. The purpose was to protect, but I am sure they did not anticipate someone having their computer this long. At any rate, Compaq has been absorbed by HP and all recalls and eqiupment over 4 yrs old are no longer accepted for support or under warranty.

Laptop problem: white screen contenue on laptop

Hi,

I see you are using a universal power adapter rather than that recommended for your brand of PC/Laptop, this is a NO, NO.

The wrong adaptor for electrical equipment, especially PCs/Laptops is very bad, it can only lead to trouble and eventually, death of the unit.

Buy the recommended adapter, and if you haven't already pickled your PC/Laptop, you should be up and running, A white screen, is like the old MS BSOD, it means CRASH, followed by total failure.

Don't mess with cheaper power supplies not specific to your equipment.

Cheers,
Peter

Have a compaq presario 1700t. Laptop when turned on screen is white! Can hook up to desktop monitor can see it fine! What it wrong with it?

Appears either your laptop screen or video processor is faulty.

You can try reinstalling the video driver for the system, if that does not help then you will need to send it in for repair.

Keyboard stuck

Disconnect the power cord and remove the battery. Wait for 30 seconds. Next, put the battery back in the laptop and reconnect the power cord. Turn the laptop on.

Be sure to also run a virus scan\malware check and update all your drivers.

hi, you may need to set your laptop to boot from the cd/dvd. you will need to enter the bios and check the boot priority. power the laptop as soon as you power on press either F2 or F10 to enter the bios (you have to be pretty quick with the F2 button). once in the bios look for the heading BOOT or BOOT PRIORITY F5 or F6 willchange the boot order.
hope this helps

Compaq monitor blank screen

If its a blank screen all the time that never shows anything not even a screen at startup then it sounds like the internal cable from your monitor to the motherboard of the laptop is unplugged or possibly broken. You need to remove the keyboard from the laptop to check this.

I recommend bringing the laptop to a professional if you have no experience with opening laptops.
