How to wire a plug

In USA, Either the male or female plug connector would be wired the same. Black is hot wire and would connect to the BRASS colored round head screw ( Smallest flat prong or slot ). White is the neutral wire and would connect to the SILVER colored round head screw ( Largest flat prong or slot ). Green is the ground wire and would connect to the GREEN screw ( ONLY HEX shaped screw ). 1) FOR YOUR LIFE SAFETY, ALWAYS USE 3-WIIRE PLUGS WHEN REPAIRING 3-WIRE EXTENSION CORDS! 2) Check the male plug connector. It should have two flat and one rounded prong. The rounded prong is the ground wire connection. If the ground prong is missing, replace the plug. 3) Inspect the outer cover for damage. 4) Do not use cords with damaged outer covers. Taping over the damage is not an adequate repair, for safety, replace the cord.

FISHER PAYKEL REPLACING A 4 PRONG PLUG TO FIT A THREE PRONG RECEPTACLE

Explanation.
Inside the rear of the dryer is a row of 3 screws/nuts.
The right and the left of those 3 are "hot".
You will attach the red and/or the black leads to those "outside" 2 screws, doesn't matter which.
The center wire is white wire only, it is a ground.
For the 4th wire, it will attach to the body of the dryer, it is also a ground.
P.S. On both the 3 prong and the 4 prong, the HOT wires ( red and also black ) are straight/flat lugs.
The "L" shaped lug and the round lug (4 prong only) are both ground.
Be blessed.

Or all blower motors on electric kenmore 80 series 220 or 110 current

Speaking of these United States, here's how that goes.
In this country, dryers are called 220, but they are really 110 twice!
So, on the back of the dryer is a plug with 3 or 4 prongs.
( hope you can get this from my description. )
On a 3 prong plug, the two "slanted" prongs are each hooked to 110 volt p service.
The "L" shaped prong is a ground.

If you have a 4 pronged plug, the two flat straight prongs are 110 volt each, and the "L" shaped and the round prong are both grounded.

FYI: Each of the 110 volt wires has a different function. One powers the motor, the other the heating element.
Be Blessed.

I just bout a new electric dryer but the plug thats on the wall will not fit so y went and bout a new plug but the new plug takes 3 wires and the in the wall takes 2 can i still use the new one

TO BE SAFE...I WOULD PURCHASE THE CORRECT PLUG WITH THE TWO PRONGS THAT FITS YOUR OUTLET!

IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECT PLUG... YOU CAN USE THIS ONE...BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO BREAK OFF THE GROUND PRONG BY BENDING AND WIGGLING IT, IT IS THE THIRD PRONG SEPERATE ON THE BOTTOM! IT SHOULD LOOK STRAIGHT & ROUND!

HOPE THIS HELPS...WOULD APPRECIATE A RATING...THANKS!

KIND REGARDS!

Can I convert a 3 flat pin female power cord into 3 round pin to fit a 1970's style appliance

The flat prong plug is for 220 to 240 volts. Converting it to a round hole connector won't work. As they are not approved for 220 to 240 volts. It will overheat.

I have an hfd-135 air purifier but i can't tell if it's 110 or 220 volts.

View the electrical plug.

A 120 Volt plug has two elongated prongs on one side, with a smaller round prong for your ground, on the electrical plug.

A 220 Volt plug has two elongated prongs, but each will be opposing each other in the middle, but tilted towards each other at the top. Also, on a 220 plug, the third prong will not be round, but flat, and in a horizontal position.

Power cord hook up

Hi Jay
Middle terminal is White and goes to the "L" shaped prong
Red and Black go to the Flat prongs (Doesn't matter which)
Round prong to cabinet Ground.
There may be a strap from the White lug to the cabinet. This must be removed for the 4 prong plug arrangment.
