Unfortunately, that sounds like a transmission issue. Power is getting to the trans, or it wouldn't spin, but the other part of the trans that causes agitation is broken.

It appears your motor/motor controller has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

I have a GE washer model# 175D2750G041 after the washer fills up with water and starts to spin to wash it makes a awful noise but only when spinning to wash not spin to drain water . what could it be

Your question is confusing. A washer doesn’t spin when it washes. It agitates. A washer fill with water, agitate, drain then spin water out. Please reword your question.

Washer fills with water but doesn't begin to agitate to wash. It also drains but doesn't spin when we set the dial to that

Your agitator pindle. has come loose From the spline. Try to lift up on the agitator. If it lifts off the spindle easily then it has worn out the spline. That is what connects the agitator to the s

Fills with water..doesn't wash..drains and spins..does the transmission spin in direction and wash in the other? in other words does the motor run one direction to spin and rev. to agg/

Yes it does reverse. If the motor is running in agitate pull off the agitator and check the agitator drive (bell) (white plastic bell shaped) on top of the agitate shaft is not stripped. You should not be able to turn. To remove the agitator fill first about 8 in of hot water, drain and pull up on agitator with fingers under the bottom or a belt.

Fills, does not agitate, drains, spins, fills, does not agitate, drains, spins

grab the agitator at the base and give it a quick push upward..remove and see if the white dome with bolt holding it down is stripped on the inside where it splines onto the transmission shaft. :)

GE Top Load Washing Machine -- Agitator will not cycle

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

Whirpool lsq9244eqo fills and drains but does not spin or agitate

It sounds like the agitator gripping teeth are worn out. To check this, take the agitator cap off with a strong knife or flat-head screw driver, pull the cap off and check the plastice teeth and four plastic hooks that grab the teeth. If they are worn out, then you will have to replace the agitator. To replace it, you will see a nut that is between the circlular teeth. Unscrew the nut and pull the agitator up hard.

Old model rca washer machine...will not agitate/wash the clothes, does spin.

If the washer fills up with water and you hear the motor running but the agitator doesn’t move, the agitator coupling is the most likely problem. First pump the water out by turning the timer to spin. Once the water is out, turn the washer off. Now pull up on the agitator until it comes off (it may be hard to pull off). Now that the agitator is off, you can see the agitator coupling, reach down and try to turn the coupling. If the coupling turns freely, it is striped out and needs to be replaced.

Need more specific information. Here's a list of possibilities, but you need to provide more info, such as: fills up OK, drains OK,
spins OK, etc.
Lid switch, motor coupler, belt(s), clutch, transmission,
worn agitator.
