I am giving you a link to the service manual below. All laptops will disassemble in different ways and there seems to be an infinate number of manuals to explain. Most older Acer laptops do not have the RTC battery in an area easily services by the home user, usually you have to take the plamrest assembly off, Acer laptops usually pivot from the front of the laptop, therefore you have to lift up the edge nearest the screen and pull it up that way and disconnect off the front. Also, there are more than screws that hold these together, acer uses small tabs along the edge and back and sometimes uses hex screws on the bottom of the motherboard, these are used to mount expansion cards. Below is the link.......

Hi i have bought netbook Acer Aspire One. i want to boot it from usb cdrom. after i changed bios boot order and exit from the bios. i have only a black screen. the computer do not shows anything in...

You are on the right track, but just removing the battery wont help because the BIOS is powered by a CMOS battery that also must be removed...

For it to just be giving you a blank screen, however, you had to change more than the boot order because the system doesnt initilize the boot order until well after the bios should be availiable.

I did find this moethod, however that may work since it's a big pain to disassemble it just to remove the CMOS battery:

Good luck!

How can I clering the BIOS password for acer aspire 4715z? I have try to remove bios battery for a moment but it doesn't work,, I try to find the bios jumper but I didn't find it, please help me

Try first removing the batter then hold in the power button on pc for 3 secounds., leave battery out for 2 hours. If this dont work, some where right beside the batter is a jumper little back bit of plastic that joins two poles, on the board if u look really closely there should be a passwrd reset jumper is where you move it onto the other two poles its not on then back or a cmos reset and you would do the same thign to this too. kinda hard to explain but dont be shy of it move them jumpers like there is no tomorrow.

I have acer travelmate and its bios password has been locked

Clearing the BIOS password is simple. Remove the BIOS battery for about 1 minute will reset the password and settings. But this wont work for new motherboards.

Else try default passwords (available at )and many other sites. Might help.

Unplug wall adapter from laptop. Remove battery. Remove memory cover from bottom of laptop, there should be a small watch battery in a plastic holder. Remove the battery and wait @ 10mins. Replace battery. BIOS password should be clear.

My acer laptop travelmate 2413lmi demanded for a password. i`ve not been able to pass through this stage despite all efforts.Right now the system can not boot without the password.

Hello capstone08,

Can you tell me which version of BIOS you have on your laptop, AWARD BIOS, AMI BIOS, PHOENIX BIOS, etc? If you have AWARD BIOS, here was a universal password for some versions of Award BIOS .The password is: AWARD_SW

Try THIS link, or THIS ,they may help..

If you know how to open up your laptop and reassemble it, you can try to remove the CMOS battery for about 15-20 mins to reset the password. The CMOS battery looks almost like watch battery...Once your BIOS password is removed, you will need to press the <F2> key during POST (Power On Self Test) to enter the Acer BIOS setup.

if all else fails, you may have to send it to an ACER repair depot, for which they will charge you $100.
Here is a copy of an email from Acer Support:
"Thank you for contacting Acer America. I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry. In order to have the BIOS or hard disk password removed (This include any biometric security), the notebook will need to come in to our repair depot for password removal. This service is not covered by warranty and unfortunately there is no other recourse to remove a BIOS or HDD password from the notebook. The flat fee for BIOS password removal is $100.00 US dollars plus tax. If it is a BIOS or HDD password and you would like us to service it for you, please contact our telephone technical support line at 1-800-816-2237. Hours of operation are 7am-9pm CST Monday-Friday and 8am-5pm CST Saturday and Sunday, excluding holidays."

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.
P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. If not, please post back as to what you did, and/or any other questions you may have, and I will try to assist you as best I can. Please do not assign an ‘Inappropriate’ or ‘Thanks for trying’ rating if your issue is not resolved after the first response itself, as sometimes a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary before we can find a fix or an answer to your query.

If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! or Helpful rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Thank you for using FIXYA!
