My laptop will not recognize the router and will not work wirelessly. Also, the connector where I would plug in the cat 5 cable to work as wired is broken, so I NEED it to work wirelessly, How do I do this?

Check the wireless adapter. Is it working or not ? For this you will need to go to the device manager. When you try to connect to the wireless network . Do u get any message ? Check the settings of the router also. Is there any other computer online wireless ? if there is other computer online then the router must be working properly. Click Here for step by step solution

How do i connect to a wireless internet router

You need a cat 5 ethernet cable that goes from the uplink port to the router. The rest is wireless. Most routers offer cat 5 ports where you can plug a computer in. Dont use a telephone wire ... telephone wire is RJ 11 - you need a RJ-45 caat 5 cable. They look similar.

BTW, most wireless runs at about 10 - while wire runs at 100 or 1000.

You will need to run the wizard on your computer to detect ... and/or load the software that came with the router.

Belkin router

The router normally goes between the Cable Modem (or DSL line) and the computer. Use a CAT-5 cable to connect modem to the WAN input connector on your router (the connector labelled "Internet), then another CAT-5 cable goes between any of the ports and your computer. Using your web browser, go to 192.168.1.1 and continue with the router setup, choose an SSID (what you name your network), followed by Wireless Security if your router supports wireless as well. I like WPA-PSK[TKIP] for its simplicity. Anyway, the router is now useaqble by other computers!

Hello, I have 2 problems with my lenovo laptop z61m, that is running IE8. But first please know that my wireless internet connection is very low and I may be booted offline. In which case please email...

Test your CAT 5 cable on your laptop again, but first right-click your wireless icon, and click open network connections. Then right-click the LANconnection and click Enable. That should do the trick.

Cannot connect to Xbox live because my xbox can't obtain an IP adress

Okay check the cable of the xbox make sure its not broken or KINKED could have a broken wire somewhere make sure the wire work try the wire on a computer to see if it gets an IP.
Check the connector too, make sure none of the wire are lossen up, if so then replace the connectors or buy a new wire. make sure its Cat 5 or Cat 5E. doesnt have to be cat 6. thats overkill.

if its wireless then check if your router has WEP or WAP enabled, then you have to get the Key to get into the router, and make sure the SSID of the router is correct.

Hope this helps

Wireless connection works but no plug in connection

The wired nic in your laptop will have a separate ip address than your wireless nic. I suspect you either have the router not set to hand out ip addresses, the info it is handing out is wrong, or you may have a static ip set. Did you ever have the laptop working on the wired nic?

Try disabling the wireless connection, plug up the cat 5 cable, open a dos prompt and type;
ipconfig /all

Notice the information. Now unplug the cable, enable the wireless connection and do the same for the wireless nic. The ip address should be different, but everything else should be the same. Let me know what you find.

ENET Port issue on BEFW11S4 Wireless Router

Hi!

Try these steps:

1. Make sure the wireless is disabled when you're doing that. It might cause a confusion between the wired and wireless connection.
2. Try to plug it at other ports (1-4)
3. Try another known working ethernet or CAT-5 cable.
4. Set the laptop's LAN card's speed to 10-hald duplex.

Try these and hope it will help you ;-)
