I bought a Honeywell RTH8500 thermostat and I can't get the temperature to go down past 75 degrees

You will need the installation book that came with the thermostat. There is a way to enter into the programming of the thermostat from the home screen. From there, you will need to find what code is the temperature settings in the manual, they are usually all 3 digit numbers. Once you find the code for the setting your looking for which is the lowest temp for the thermostat, it will have a 75 to the right of it which you can set a lower number. Sorry I do not have the manual right now to just tell you exactly how, but hope this still helps!

Your oven's manual should tell you how to adjust this. The manual should also have a trubleshooting chart. Also remember, your temperature sensor may be going bad and will need to be replaced. For now, you can set the temperature 75 degrees higher to get the correct temperature you need.

What does the code F1-1 mean on Jenn-Air downdraft model?

If you see the F1-1 error code, I recommend that you continue to use the Quick Test to display the temperature sensed by the probe in the oven. If that temperature is way off, I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the range and check the resistance of the oven temperature sensor probe. The second image below shows how to access that component. Measure the resistance of the sensor with a volt/ohm meter. It should measure about 1100 ohms at room temperature (75 degrees). I provided a temperature/resistance chart in the first image. If the resistance of the probe is bad, then you will need to replace that component (part number 12001656).

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. If the sensor probe is okay, you will probably need to replace the control board in the console. I recommend that you have a service technician replace this component.

Hope helps.

We have replace the heater core and heater hoses in our 1997 Pontiac grand am gt and we still are not getting much heat coming thru the vents. the blower motor is working. We need help determining which...

I can't speak to your specific car, but in general auto heating systems, it could be a number of other things:

1. The control unit might not be sending the correct signal to the valve that controls the flow of hot water into the core. There is usually a solenoid type valve in the heater hose line that opens when you switch the heat on. If you can get to that valve (if your car has one) you should check that it gets 12VDC when the heat is turned on. A simple way to check that it is opening is to feel the hoses on the passenger compartment side of the valve. If they get too hot to touch when heat is called for, that is probably operating correctly.

2. The car's interior temperature sensor might be bad. These sensors are usually located behind a small grill somewhere on the dash. Some systems actually detect the temperature inside the passenger compartment and they send a signal to the controller that tells that control valve how much to open or close.

3. Some systems actually control the temperature by positioning those vent flaps you are looking to find. On those systems, the hot coolant is sent through the core all the time, and the way the temperature is varied inside is by controlling how open/shut that flap is.

The bottom line is that you need to figure out which way your specific car is supposed to work, and then you can start troubleshooting. I suggest doing internet searches - there are usually forums for car repair - often by make and model. Good luck.

Check oven temperature sensor for normal room temperature resistance (1085-1097 ohms at 75 degrees F). Check sensor wiring connectors for a loose or high resistance connection. Check electronic range control (also called clock or ERC) functions Replace relay board if necessary. Replace oven temperature sensor if other components check normal. How do I turn the timer off my Creda slim line panel heater ? keeps coming on when not required. I have lost my instruction booklet. Many thanks bev

You can stop the unit coming on by turning the temperature dial down to as low as it will go. Also it could be turned off at the wall if all else fails and there is a plug point.

With the BevAir DW49 does a lower number mean colder or warmer?

1 is usually the warmest setting. The higher the number to colder the setting. Start in the middle and make minor adjustments allowing considerable time in between to dial in the temp of your unit.
