Thank you so much! Boston Dave, I have striped my omnibook to her last bones, its around minus 1 celsius and i have kept it out side along with the cosmos battery and the other components i took out. so i have to wait and see what happens tomorrow, if it pulls through i will be the happiest man in my neighbourhood, if it don't well i have to face the music and possibly give my omnibook a fair-well funeral,

    Many Kind Regards.

We had the same problem and through trial and error hitting some different key sequences were able to get to the boot order screen and change the boot order and reinstall widows.

    Now it's working good.

I hit F12 on boot up and then F2 i just kept tapping these two keys and finally after several attempts it booted to the change boot order screen.

I guess it finally got tired of me tapping on it and gave in.! haha

To recover your bios password you can read here in the HP Omnibook 500 service manual (page 107) where it states you'll need to contact HP and provide proof of ownership and they'll walk you through the process of resetting your password:

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have an Omni Book 500 That wont let me change the bios is there someway to get around that ?

I am guessing that you are attempting to use a non supervisor level password. There is usually a facility to set both a user (restricted function) password and a setup password (administrator rights access). You may need to reset the passwords within the bios setup.

Password bios HP OMNIBOOK xe3 SERIAL NUMBER TW14817903 SERVISE ID 12035

BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools

You will need to create a bootable Dos, or Linux or NT cd in order to run them.

Good Luck!
