Could be your thermal cut-off has failed, as above. Other parts that can fail and cause this problem include the fuse, thermostat, and heating element. I think the fuse is supposed to be the most common part to fail. People often think they must have a defective heating element, but from what I understand, heating elements don't fail that often. Once you get the back of the dryer off, it is easy to test everything. Search the various "dryer won't heat" threads in this site for troubleshooting directions. If you still have the customer literature that came with your new dryer, that will help you identify the parts on your particular machine.

In general, you will use an ohmmeter to see if the circuit between the two connectors on a given part is open or closed. This is referred to as a continuity test. All of the parts mentioned above should have zero resistance between the two connectors, meaning there is intact continuity. If a part fails the continuity test -- in other words, if it shows infinite resistance on the ohmmeter -- it is defective. UNPLUG THE MACHINE, BEFORE YOU TEST ANYTHING!

I just fixed my own dryer with help from various posters on fixya, by reading several threads and more or less putting all of the information together in my head. I found that a lot of the information that is posted about "no heat" type dryer problems is very general and can apply to any make or model of dryer. Whirlpool makes Estate, so anything about Whirlpool should be very applicable. Look for threads about gas dryers if you have a gas dryer, and look for threads about electric if you have electric, though.

    Good luck.

Drum rotates. No Heat. Kenmore Electric Dryer

check the thermal fuse on the top of blower wheel housing, also while your there take off the cover of the housing and clean all the lint out,if your fuse was popped the lint buildup did it,check outside and make sure the air from dryer is blowing out and is not blocked,if it is blow out vent line if it's a long run with a leaf blower,if the thermal fuse is good read out the heater with a meter and if that's good read out the t-stats

Extremely low drum heat but setting is on HIGH.

Electric (Kenmore - 60931) dryer takes forever (several cycles) lately to dry clothes set on high heat (actual heat in tub feels low though). There are no obstructions in the venting and the 240 volt connection is fine. The timer rotates the dial (timer motor working). Help!!!

Dryer heating element

There is a fuse in the dryer for the heat.
Before tearing into the dryer, make sure the power getting to the dryer is absolutely correct. (check power with the dryer running) Even with incorrect power to the dryer. the drum will still turn but there will be no heat.
Many a person has paid for expensive service calls for the problem you are having only to discover by the servicer that there was nothing wrong with the dryer but had bad power to the dryer......
