After ejecting the flash drive and then reinserting it, nothing happens. A reboot is required for the drive to be recognized once again.

I also have the same problem with a cruzer micro flash drive and an I/O magic external hard drive. The light comes on for a second then turns off.

Work through My computer once putting the disk in the USB port. It should read "removable device". Click back and forth from c: drive to my computer to make the computer recognize it faster. Let me know what happens.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive now tells me that it is a read only file. I copied a file and renamed it. Now when I do new work I get a message that tells me I have a read only disc or

Open a command prompt and remove all file bits.Windows Button > type CMD and press enter.
  • CD <drive letter:\> press enter
  • attrib -R -A -H -S <file path\file name>

This will clear the read-only bit, archive, system and hidden bits.

Also right click the file and go to security and make sure you have write permission to the file.

Also verify this flash drive doesn't have a physical write protect switch

My SanDisk Cruzer was in the usb port when my husband accidentally turned the tower face down. Today I noticed the disk will not light up. It is bent slightly. Can you help? all my imortant files are on...

If it will not work when you put it in the computer, then the flash drive is probably just broken. You could always try to bend it back, but that may only make the problem worse. Sorry. Best Wishes!

Stopped working COMPLETELY!!!!

Had same problem.

I wiggled back and forth the part that goes into the USB port and the drive was recognized and I could copy my files onto my hard drive.

I had this problem with a different make USB flash drive and used the same procedure to get the files back.

I think that some connection inside the flash drive works loose after a while.

I am not going to trust these drives for files storage, but only to transfer files.
