We have a hotpoint dryer in our new apt. I would like to know if the Timed Dry (regular heat) or the optimum dry (medium heat) is hotter? I need a lower heat setting. Couldnt tell the difference between medium and regular. Thanks.

MY DRYER DONT START,she make a sound but not start

Hello Friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

I understand you are having trouble with your Frigidaire dryer not starting. Let's try resetting your dryer by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is best to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn on your dryer. Confirm that the door is securely closed and select a cycle. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, then at this point, you may want to connect with a local servicer who will be best equipped to pinpoint the problem. You dryer may either be experiencing a communication error with the main control or the timer itself may not be operating correctly. If you don't know a qualified technician, you can use the service locator option on the manufacturer site to find one near you.

I want to know how hot my dryer gets. I do not have temp. controls on my model

Good Morning Tabitha,

I see that you are looking to see how hot your Frigidaire dryer, model# FER311FS, actually gets, due to you not having temperature controls on your particular model. Being that you have just the timed dry cycle, it provides up to 100 minutes of drying time at high heat for regular and permanent press items. When drying permanent press items, turn the cycle selector to 40-50 minutes. This is the average time needed to dry most loads of permanent press items. The load tumbles without heat during the last 10 minutes of the Timed Dry cycle. Use this setting to refresh clothing, pillows or blankets or to dust draperies. Heat-sensitive items such as plastics, foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials or items containing feathers or down should be dried only with this setting. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Barrel isn't turning.

I believe you will find the belt is broken.
There is a motor which is supposed to turn a belt, which in turn drives the drum.
If you wish to repair ir yourself, a letter to "Fixya" could cause someone to walk you through the steps.
Be blessed.

Hi, I have a Maytag dryer, model # mdg308daww Legacy series. It heats up just fine, dries clothes great but the problem I am having is that the Auto dry features are not shutting off as they were before....

you may need to replace the moisture sensor bars inside the dryer.also you may need to check the air flow if timed dry is nnot drying them properly

Hotpointdryer timer problem

There are two coils in the heating element, and if one burns out, the timer will not advance in automatic dry. The timer should still advance when using manual (or timed) dry.

My dryer runs but will not heat properly and when placed on auto cycle and regular temperature it will not shut off and dial doesn't move and drying takes forever

If it takes several loads to dry on timed dry then the vent from the dryer to the outside needs cleaning, replacement or is smashed behind the dryer.

I have a GE dryer that is approx. 5 years old (not sure what model). This weekend it stopped blowing hot air (just runs cold for the alotted time on timed dry cycle). It ran all night the other night when...

without knowing the model... your first safe bet is to trace the lint trap all the way to the vent and check for blockages. this will cause the effect you are talking about. also i would consider the heating element has gone bad.

Gas never ignites in any cycle in a 10yr old Kenmore dryer.

Chances are your igniter has gone bad. It must pull atleast 3.2 amps to open the gas valve and ignite the gas. A new igniter could probably purchased for 20 or 30 dollars.

Fuse blowing

Your exhaust vent is blocked.
Timed dry is High heat.
Permanent press is a medium heat and intermittent.
The dryer does not get as hot as often in Permanent press mode. Therefore the fuse does not reach critacal and blow.
Remove the vent at the rear of the dryer and run a timed load.
If it dries correctly, repair your vent blockage.
If not, repost and I will lead you to the next step.

It takes several auto cycles on regular heat to dry a load of laundry when I think it should only take one. What's wrong?

first, check your exhaust, you have to make sure there is no buildup at all inside it. this is the most common problem to cause this. if lint gets backed up, there is a sensor that shuts down the heating element after only a few seconds. hope this helps
