The passphrase is a method of setting up the encryption setting in the wireless router. Go into the router configuration and then into the wireless settings.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

Forgot passphrase

Are you looking for the wireless network key or password ?
Is there any computer online using the router.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.
You will find the wireless network key or password on the set up page of the router.

Forgot password to WiFi How do I find out what it

To find the password/passphrase on the Linksys router, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router. On older models the username is left blank and the password is “admin”. On newer models, both the username and password is “admin”.

Once you get in to the router management tool, look for the security portion. There you will find the password or passphrase you are using for your WEP or WPA security encryption.

Forgot my security password (network key)I need to

Logon to your router from your computer using your browser and going to http://192.168.1.2/. If it wants a username, the default username is blank and the default password is either blank or "password".

The Belkin management tool will come up. From there, go into your security and look to see if your passphrase is visible. If it is, you're good to go. If not, you can change it on that page save it and close out.
Don't forget to change the passphrase on any wireless devices you are using connected to the Belkin wireless router.

I forgot my passphrase and when I try the manage wireless page, "admin" does not work. On the systems page it says admin is not recognized. I do not want to reset my home network. /what do I do?

well theres many ways to fix this. form teh info you have provided i am assuming by passphrase you mean the key that allows you to connect to your wireless network. no passphrase has a default set to admin. the only default hing with routers that is set to admin is there setup page the first ime you loginto it. yoru passphrase was setup by you or someone else and that is unique to you. two ways of resetting it is logging into the router using you web browser while plugged directly into yoru router or hold the reset button on the router and that brings your router to the default factory settings.

Since you forgot the security ket for the wireless network you need to access the router setup page using the a computer that is working fine with the router,
On the internet exploreer address bar of the working computer type in 192.168.1.1 , then that should be asking you for a username and password, just leave the username blank and password is admin. If tha admin password didn't work try typing your commonly use password.
If you're already on the setup page of the router, Just go to wireless tab then there's a wireless security sub tab there where you can find the security key that you need...

Hope that helps...........

You need to go into your router settings via a web browser, possibly http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 your manual will confirm which address is correct.
If you have forgotten your passphrase you will need to set another one and then change all the computers which connect to it so they all have the same passphrase.
