The printwheel "homes" everytime the power is turned on. There are many causes of the printwheel losing it's homing during printing. Check that nothing is interfering with the printwheel spinning, like the correction tape, or ribbon. Type slowly and observe the movement ot the hammer to make sure the hammer returns to it's home position every time, if not the machine must be repaired (to retime the hammer cam) . You can removed and reinstall the printwheel to make sure it is seated on its' drive spindle securely. checke that the is no foreign material in the bottom of machine.

Or.... it cound be the print hammer solenoid which strikes the hammer to print is cracked and not working correctly (this should be done by a qualified tech)
Hope this helps...

Hi There. Not only check the printwheel to ensure it is locked into place, but then you will need to use the CODE RESET feature.

This should align the printwheel into the proper position.

Kind regards ad Hope this is useful.

How do you put the font wheel back in to match up with the keys in a Smith Corona typewriter?

When you put it in, make sure the charachters on the "printwheel"are facing AWAY from you. (towards the paper.) And make sure it is latched in place. Put the ribbon and correction tape back in properly. Turn the machine on. The printwheel should automatically reset itself. If it doesn't, it need professional help

The flywheel from my brother ml300 typwriter came off and i don't know how to put it back on

I assume by "flywheel", you are referring to the "printwheel" which is removable from the typewriter by unlatching the print hammer mechanism by pulling the black lever on the right side of the print hammer towards the front of the machine. To install the printwheel, drop the printwheel in its cartridge with the letters facing the paper, then push the print hammer assembly towards the paper to the latched position. Turn on machine, and the printwheel will spin and "home". If printwheel homing is not correct, repeat above procedure with slightly more pressure when latching the printwheel. (The printwheel must latch on to its drive spindle securely). Good Luck

Reset code for daisy wheel

check this link on which printwheels work with your model to make sure you have the right one. There is no reset, except after you insert the printwheel and close the cover, it will automatically go to the proper position, unless there is something wrong with it.

See the instructions on page 12 of this manual:

Some uppercase letters are not printing correctly

make sure ribbon and corr. tape are in properly and not interfering with the free movement of the printwheel. ribbon and tape should be between the two metal fingers and the cardholder. make sure the two fingers are not bent down into the printwheel. check the "fingers" on the printwheel to make sure they are straight. with the printwheel out of the machine, push the printhammer forward and release it to make sure it snaps back freely. if these seem to be okay then it could be a problem with the p/w motor or motherboard, and would need professional help.

Keyboard is malfunctioning

There are a few things that can cause this. Make sure the correction tape or ribbon is not caught in the printwheel. Make sure the ribbon guide fingers next to the cardholder (the ribbon and corr. tape should be on the other side of these), are not touching the printwheel. Look to make sure there is no forien object interfering with the printwheel. If you have taken the printwheel out, it may not be in properly. Look to see if any of the printwheel fingers are bent forward or backward. Turn machine off and back on, and let it reset. If it still doesn't work the main board may be bad.

The printwheel has lost it's home position. Release the lever holding the printwheel, remove it and re-install it. Push the lever toward the platen to lock it in. Turn the typewriter on. The printwheel should spin, the carriage should move to the left and the come back to the left margin. You should be OK after that. Let me know if it helps or not Ed
