The memory in the cd player/radio is directly connected to the 12 volts from the battery which maintains the clock time and memory of stations and other settings. These seem to be the biggest issues with vehicle battery draining.
Other possibilites would be a shorted wire somewhere in the vehicle. Like faulty door light switch, seat heaters (if applicable) and air temp controls. Make sure all controls are off when vehicle is shut off. Heat/Air fan off, A/C off, cd player faceplate removed, wipers off, and everything else.

240z battery drain

Have you confirmed by going out to the car at night that none of the interior lights or lighted visor lights truck or hood lights are staying on? That is by far the most common cause of a battery drain. Other less common cause is a defective alternator rectifier diode Disconnect the battery overnight as well to confirm you don't have a shorted battery cell, that to will run the battery down, it is called an internal drain. Also make sure the top of the battery is clean of any acid.

07 lexus rx350 slow to start after sitting over night. Once it cranks it is back to normal.

If it turns over hard in the morning then either something is staying on and draining the battery or the battery is nearing the end of its life. Check things like the glovebox light, trunk light for staying on. Simply remove the bulbs and see if that helps. If not , you should pick up a new battery.

If it turns over good the problem would be either the cold start system or your fuel system is losing pressure overnight. This would require furthur diagnosis. Hope this helps.

Hi my car wont start, after i get a jump it will run that hold day then the next morning nothing will come on no lights anything

your charging system is working okay or you would have to have it jumped more than once a day.you have a bad battery that needs replacing as running it during the day the charging system keeps the battery charged up enough to work.you could have a drain on the battery from something in the car that is not shutting down that you will have to have checked out.or sitting over night the battery runs down to the point that it needs to be jumped started if its an old battery(over5-6years).

The battery keeps draining i can charge it runs. park it at night it runs the battery down. i have tried a new battery.tried charging it and not driving the truck and at still drain the juice.

remove the pos battery terminal and connect a test light to the cable and battery, remove the fuses one at a time till the light goes out, remember the dome light is on when checking interior fuses. either remove the bulb or push the door button in, this will direct you to the circuit that has the problem

2 nights ago my battery died. I got a jump by a friend and drove it to a destination then parked it. Leaving the car I noticed my tail lights stayed on which meant a bulb was dead I assume so I unplugged...

It could be your starter if you hear a sound when you try to start your car like a clicking noise or not a noise at all. Also it it tries to turn over, but doesn't it's your alternator. Hope this helps!?

Mysterious battery drain

you not only should be getting tired of jump starting your car, you battery is also .. modern batteries can only be deep discharged a few times .. so each time you allow it to do that you have removed a significant portion of the batteries life ... usually the problem is caused by a light not turning off ... like the trunk or under hood light .. even the glove box light .. in your case of overnight discharge i would guess that something is drawing about 7 amps .. thats more than most lamps .. now since you have had trouble with your rear defroster i am suspecting that it is staying on .. there is a relay that controls that .. that relay may be stuck on .. feel the defrost element to see if its warm . you can disconnect that defroster or pull its fuse to test that theory .. also you can remove bulbs to see if thats the problem .. once in a while yoiu see a shorted diode in t he alternator (even new ones) .. that should have been tested when they installed or tested the alternator .. since the current is so high then whatever is drawing that much will be warm to the touch .. until you find the problem, you have little choice but to disconnect the battery each night or hook up a charger .. one way to trouble shoot if you dont have equipment is to do the following:
1. disconnect the battery
2. clip lead a small 12volt light bulb between the battery and the connector ... the bulb might glow dimmly ..
3. if somethng is drawing lots of current then the bulb will glow brightly .. disconnect things one at a time until the bulb dims.

many auto parts stores have test equipment that can test for leakage .. they wont have time to troubleshoot but they can tell how much leakage there is ... that service is often free ..

My 1997 Volvo 850 always needs to have a jump start in the morning. I havent changed the sparks plugs in years, could this be the problem?

Sounds like a battery problem. Make sure that all your lights are off inside the car. Check your visor light too. Ive seen broken visors that wont turn the bulb off when shut and drain the battery over night.

Get your battery tested also to make sure it can hold the cranking amps needed for starting.

Car starts, runs, turns off then sometimes wont start??

how old is the battery? is it the origional? cause if you have to jump it then put a new battery in to solve the problem, most batterys say they are good for about 5 yrs to 8 yrs, depending, but if you jump it that brings life of the battery down... try putting a new battery in, and also check all around the vehicle, in the trunk look at the trunk light make sure it turns off when closed, all interior lights make sure they all shut off, check the glove box light to make sure it is shutting off ETC. cause even tho those are small bulbs if they stay on that will drain a battery quick over night... hope this helps.... GET the new battery that should fix your problem....

My 1988 Cadillac Deville has a new battery and alternator but still looses charge over night,Checked lights everywhere none are on at night??? why does it still discharge??

A 12V battery drain, doesn't necessarily mean a bulb is on. There could be 17,842 other reasons such as a sticking seat switch, blower motor staying on, I could go on. Need to have it tested for that, and identify the circuit with the drain on it. Then beginto search and see what is the cause. Hope this helps
