I'm not sure how you want us to know what your laptop's serial number is. There's not much we can do...

Which cd drive

If you post the Gateway Model Number it would be helpful. Do you have one or two drives? Is the drive in the Computer folder? If so, you can right click the Icon, select Properties, select Hardware tab, your DVD/CD Rom will be listed, copy the DVD/CD Rom part number, Google search the part number.

I want to recover my sony vaio laptop with windows 7 OS, i want to get it back to original state to delete all personal installed programs. pls help

Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of the screen and click "All Programs." Click "VAIO Care" then click "VAIO Care" again. The VAIO Care program will open.

Click "Recovery & restore" on the left side of the VAIO Care window, then click "Recovery." Click "Recovery Computer" on the right side of the program window.

Click "Yes" to verify that you are aware the computer will be recovered to its original factory settings and that all of your personal files and programs will be erased.

The computer will restart and the recovery process will begin.

When the process is finished, the computer will restart again and boot up to the Windows 7 setup screen.

Recover Using Recovery Partition

Turn on or restart your Sony Vaio computer.

Press the "F10" key repeatedly when the Vaio logo appears on the screen during the boot process to be redirected to the Boot Options menu on your machine.

If the Boot Options menu does not appear by the time the Windows logo appears on your screen, let the computer finish booting up, then restart the computer and try again.

Highlight "VAIO Recovery Environment" in your Boot Options menu and press "Enter."

The VAIO Care program will appear on your screen.

Follow steps 2 and 3 in Section 1 to recover your Sony Vaio computer with Windows 7 to its original factory settings.

Recovery Using Recovery Discs

Insert the first recovery disc in your optical drive and restart your Sony Vaio computer.

The total number of recovery discs varies based on your Sony Vaio computer.

The Boot Options menu will appear on your screen. Highlight "Start Sony VAIO Care Rescue" using the arrow keys on the keyboard and press "Enter." The "VAIO Care Rescue" program will appear on the screen.

Click "Tools," then click "Start advanced recovery wizard." In the "Do you need to rescue your data?" window, click "Skip rescue."
Click "Factory condition," then click "Next." Click "Yes, I'm sure" when asked if you want to proceed with the recovery knowing that all of your personal files and programs will be erased. Click "Start Recovery." Remove and insert the recovery discs as prompted by the computer.

Remove the final recovery disc and click "Restart" when a message appears on the screen informing you that the recovery is complete.

The computer will boot up to the Windows 7 setup screen where you can begin personalizing your operating system

hope this helps

The CD/DVD drive in my computer is broken and I need to know what I would need to replace it. I see internal cd drives online, but have no idea exactly what would work.

If this is a laptop, you need to get the exact same model for your specific model. You would have to contact Toshiba for the part number or model number for your system.

If this is a desktop then you maybe be able to use any standard IDE CD/DVD drive.

I need the product key to install windous in my lifebook fujitsu siemens S 4542. The sticker with product key is broken in the end. I can read: CDK92-664PC-3P2XP-BGTK.........(the rest is missing) end...

You could have recovered it if you still had your old instalation. Programs like Belarc Advisor can retrieve your product keys.
If you have already re-installed windows, you only have a couple of options
1 Ring Microsoft and explain your problem. But if the copy is OEM, and not a full retail version, they probably wont be able to help you
Its worth a try tho
2 buy a new key from microsoft :(
3 download a copy of windows from a torrent site that is either pre-activated, or comes with an activator.
Downloading from torrent sites is done at your own risk
You will need a torrent client like Utorrent, try the piratebay for the windows software

Battery problems

It should fix the problem, did you make sure you got the right battery(correct model number etc? like a genuine OEM battery).

If that doesnt fix it, go into your control panel, power settings, and select the battery option.. and check how your laptop uses the battery when its not plugged into AC power.

If that doesnt fix it, then contact HP, if its still under warrenty, it might be the AC terminal thats going bad, and might need the computer serviced. BTW how old is the computer?

Recovery disk

If you're running a desktop all you will need is an XP disc. For all the other drivers you can take the side of your tower off and you'll see a mother board number. It usually has number and letters combined on it. If you google those numbers and and drivers after those numbers and letters you should find all that you require. If you're using a lap top you can still get an XP disc and instead of looking for the mother board numbers type in the name of your laptop including the numbers and add the word drivers and that should help you as well. I hope this will solve your problems
