Yes I installed the driver for the printer and it shows, but the computer still does not recognized the printer.

You say the driver "shows"....what exactly do you mean by that? Normally if the driver loads properly and you see printer, then the computer HAS recognized the printer. What you may need to do is select the printer as the default printer in order to use it. Or am I misunderstanding your statement?

USB Printer does not recognize with XP Computer

In most cases, the driver for a printer is supplied when you purchase it. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to provide the driver along with the device to make sure the working.

However, most of the Operating Systems come with native driver support for many known printers. This is the fact we have to take care while purchasing a printer. Even though we misplaced the driver disc, if we purchase a good manufacturer printer, there is a chance to get the native support from Operating System itself.

There are some scenarios where printer may not be recognized by the Operating System due to some conflict with other devices.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation:
  • Ensure that the supplied USB cable is firmly connected to both the printer and computer side.

I lost the cd to my lexmark x2600, how do i install

If you're running Windows XP or Vista, you may plug the printer in to the computer and let the computer recognize the printer. Once it's recognized, the computer will give you an option to select the driver because Win XP and Vista have built-in generic drivers for most printers.

But if the computer does not carry the driver for your Lexmark x2600, you may check the links below and download the driver for free:

Good luck and have a great day!

Printer USB Cable un recognized DCP150C

You need to isolate the problem. You tried using multiple cables and reinstalled the printer driver several times, but you never mentioned that you tried connecting the printer into another computer. What if the problem is the USB port of the computer and not the printer cable?

Try connecting and installing the problem printer into different computer for testing purpose only. If it work, then the problem is the USB port of the computer. To fix this, try updating the USB driver of your computer.

If same problem occurs using another computer, then you need to contact the manufacturer of your printer. I've heard this problem before and I don't have an update if there's a fix with it.

Have a great day!
