Question about Btc M871

Open Question

MY mouse is a BTC model M871. It is a "wired" (PS-2 port)laser mouse. Problem: several times per minute the cursor will jump to the screen edge (usually to the left, or the upper left corner). I downloaded the proper driver from the BTC site, but no help. I do not have the original CD that came with the mouse. Suggestions?

SOURCE: jumping mouse cursor

It may be a problem with your usb drive, try plugging it in to a different USB drive in the computer, not the keyboard. If your CPU has no free USB drives I recommend purchising a USB port extension or a USB converter. Though it would probably be cheeper just to buy a new mouse. Tell me how it works. :-)

They stopped doing them a few years ago due to the fact that it is now obsolete. As a result of this, the price would be really high due to the rarity of the adapter. I suggest buying a new keyboard.

Mouse cursor jumping problem, how to fix it?


A mouse is a vital component of your computer and allows you to control certain functions on the screen. When the mouse is not functioning correctly, it can be frustrating. There are a few different reasons why your mouse pointer may jump on the screen. You need to work through the possible causes and troubleshoot the problems to fix your mouse and get it working properly again.

1.
Examine the batteries if you have a wireless mouse and the cursor begins to jump. A low battery may be the cause. Change the batteries and check the mouse again. If it is still experiencing the same problems, proceed to the next steps to resolve the issue.

2.
Switch the wireless transmitter to a different USB port on another computer if possible. There could be problems with the port, causing the cursor to jump. This will resolve the problem if the issue is with the USB port. If the mouse is still jumping, move on to the next steps.

3.
Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom left corner of the screen. Right-click on the "My Computer" menu and click on "Properties." Click on the "Hardware" menu and click on "Device Manager." Locate the mouse entry in the list. Right-click on it and select "Update Driver" from the menu. Allow a few moments for the operating system to locate and install an updated driver for your mouse.

4. Remove dust or debris from the mouse pad and mouse with a soft cloth. Dust or debris could prevent the mouse from operating smoothly and cause the cursor to jump. Add a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the cloth before you begin. Wait for the alcohol to dry on the pad and mouse prior to using.
5. Go to the "Start" menu and click on "Control Panel." Double-click on the "Mouse" icon and click on "Mouse Pointer." Decrease the speed of the mouse pointer. This could be causing the cursor to jump.

My ps/2 mouse pad is erratic cursor goes all over the page unstable. Tried uninstall and reinstalling the drivers - no good!


This is usually caused by moisture on the touch pad, this can be from something as severe as a spill to something subtle like damp/sweaty hands. if for example a small amount of moisture is trapped on one edge the cursor will keep trying to jump between that position and your finger position making the mouse erratic. If it is not this, then you may have a faulty trackpad, but I am inclined from the description to say its moisture.

i think the best solution would be to get a new mouse and see if that has the same issues if it does not, it is your mouse. If it is it could be a number of things... faulty mouse software (easily fixable),driver problems, or it may even require you reformat your entire computer, depending on where the source of the problem is. Try a new mouse first and keep me posted...gl

there may be a mouse port problem try checking ur ps/2 port by a loopback plug.if not replace ur mouse.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, use a cotton bud to clean the lens without scratching it.

try to reconnect the cable properly.make sure its well fitted to PS/2 port that it will not tend to loose. Then, restart your computer.if its not detected still,go to control panel then click add hardware wizard then detect the the mouse if its working or not.ok?
