Question about Dell Computers & Internet
Just got a new dell desktop. Pluged in the cable from existing 2wire wireless modem but new computer is not recognizing or allowing access to internet?
Check the ipaddress. go to start -> run -> type ipconfig and hit enter. if you have a 169.x.x.x then you have an invalid ipaddress. if you have any other address go to start -> run -> and type ping google.com. if you recieve replies then the problem is browser . if you dont get replies then check your dns and verify with your isp that that is the correct address. if all checks out then call your isp and tell them they need to replace the modem wether is cable or dsl.
