My fridge is leaking water inside of the main fridge compartment. It is coming from the top and I can see water dripping out of one the hole. There are two small one inch square holes near the back top...

The defrost drain hole is frozen over.
When your fridge goes into defrost mode the water has no where to go but inside the fridge, not down the drain hole.
Turn the fridge off for 24 hours and open the doors. Let it defrost naturally to clear it out.

Leaking inside

The drain in the back of your freezer is frozen. When the defrost cycle runs, the water has no where to go except through the panel into your refrigerator.

Turn the refrigerator off. Take everything out of the freezer and store it someplace for a few hours. You can either let the freezer thaw on its own or help it out a bit. If you want to speed the process, remove the rear and bottom panels from the inside of the freezer to expose the coils and the bottom pan. Stay away from the coils. Melt/chip away all of the ice in the pan. With a hair dryer, melt the ice in the back of the pan. Soon you will see the drain - concentrate on melting the ice in it. Some hot water and a sponge can help speed the drain clearing process. When the water drains freely, finish drying out the rest of the freezer and reassemble the rear and bottom panels. Turn the refrigerator back on, and you are good to go.

Kitchen Aid KTRC22EK leak inside refridgerator

It sounds like the drain for the defrost water is pluged. You can remove the back panel inside the freezer(ice maker will have to coe out first) and access the drain in the rear center of the freezer. Check the drain. It can be defrsted with a hair dryer(shut off the referigerator first) good luck, snugglepants

Hotpoint. Water is leaking from behind light bulb

The drain hose in the back of your freezer is frozen shut. The water you see is coming from the defrost cycle. Turn off the refrigerator. Remove the floor from your freezer and remove/thaw all of the ice. Locate the drain in the back of the freezer. It may be behind the back panel. Thaw the drain until water flows freely through it. Reassemble the freezer, and you are back in business.

Fridge is dripping directly onto top shelf. It is

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curtain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you have any other question. Water leaking inside fridge.

If you remove the back panel of your freezer you will notice what looks like a drain - melted water will go through a drain hole that extends to your refrigerator inside a cup that slowly drains the water through a tube through the back of your refrigerator and down the drip pan. Your cup may appear fine, but maybe there is some obstruction somewhere causing the water not to drain fast enough - so what happens is that the cup will eventually overflow - try to see if you can remove this and pass a long wire down the drain tube at the back to dislodge anything blocking or partially blocking it - see if you can also clean your drain cup, eventually small derbris accumulate. At the back of your freezer panel look for any partial or complete obstruction of the drain hole and its surroundings, which might be iced up.

I myself have had this problem for months, my refrigerator would have water at the bottom accumulate and eventually under the crispers a river of water :)

Cleaning the cup and the drain tube at the back of the fridge and the drain and surroundings at the back of the freezer panel should fix this problem. Sounds like your drain at the freezer level is plugged up and water is backing up and leaking from elsewhere !

All items in freezer were defrosted when I opened the door this morning. Fridge is semi cold.

Hi

Some leaking water refrigerator helps....

  1. My older style Amana freezer on top refrigerator is leaking inside
  2. My refrigerator is leaking water inside
  3. My refrigerator is leaking water onto the floor
My refrigerator is leaking water inside the fridge:

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
