These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

COLOR DISTORTION AND SOME DOUBLE IMAGES ..HITACHI PROJECTION 52 INCH

You didn`t list the model number but i can recognise a convergence problem,If the magic focus or the convergence adjustement in the menu(that is the one with the crosses in the screen) does`nt do the trick then you probably have bad stk392-020 i.cs and a few resistor along with it.If your not handy in electronics you`ll need help from a repairman. good luck

One half of picture is distorted

to create the total geometry in the tv is needed a system called Convergence.Convergence amplifiers are damaged in this unit, magic focus cannot work because magic focus works to level computer and controls the amplifiers damaged. this repair is for a technician because an adjustment is needed after the amplifier's replacement.

the convergence IC`s and associated resistors have to be replaced, do not repeatedly push magic focus or the alignment after the parts change out will take longer which of course means higher repair bill, good luck
