When you enter a wrong PIN for 3 times the SIM gets locked and asks for a PUK code. PUK code be obtained from your service provider, which will help you to create a new PIN for your SIM.

Please note that if you Enter a Wrong PUK 10 times your SIM card will be corrupt and you will not be able to use it. So please do not try to guess the PUK.

PUK code cannot be generated by any software. Only your service provide can give you the PUK code for your SIM.

A PUK code is a Pin Unlock Key code. A PUK code is required to unlock a SIM. Please contact your service provider for PUK code because only they can provide you a PUK code.

There are two type of phone lock:-

1. Sim Lock

2. Phone lock

Sim unlock: To unlock sim ask pin or puk no from your mobile service provider and then enter the no to unlock, if you get the msg as sim rejected then you have to go for a new sim card to activate your number

Phone Unlock: To unlock phone with IMEI no is not easy you must know the phone unlock number and it may differ with user( Nokia common Unlock code is 12345 or 0000), you better go to Nokia service center and update the software to unlock the phone easily and it cost only Rs:400.

PUKs, or personal unblocking keys, are used to unblock a mobile phone which becomes blocked. Mobile phones may become blocked when a PIN (personal identification number) is entered incorrectly on three consecutive occasions. In some instances, the phone may become blocked, which requires a PUK to unblock it, and in other instances, the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card itself becomes blocked and again will require a PUK to unblock it.
Mobile phones are also blocked when they are reported stolen and if there is an outstanding payment on the account.
It is important to differentiate between unblocking phones (using a PUK) and unlocking mobile phones (using another type of code). More information on unlocking phones will be available here in the very near future.
NOTE: It is a criminal offence for anyone to attempt to unblock a mobile phone, other than the network provider who put the block on the phone.
If your phone has become blocked by mistake, for example you have entered the PIN incorrectly on three consecutive occasions, then you need to contact the mobile phone network operator with your details. Hi,
PUK code in PIN UNLOCKING CODE, which is required when you give PIN number wrongly for 3 times, This code is OPERATOR specific and not phone specific and you have to call you operator and get PUk if PIN is blocked...
if you provide PUK code wrongly for 7 time, you sim may become useless, then you have to buy new SIM

You will need to telephone you service provider and obtain you PUK code (personal unlock code) be careful you can only have 3 attempts to get this correct and your handset my be useless.
