Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I believe my husband inadvertently touched a button on the SANYO AVM-2588 remote and now all we can get is a blue screen with "AV" in the bottom right-hand corner. The set is linked with a ComCast Scientific Atlantic cable control box and a VCR accessory. I've tried re-programming the remote for use with the cable control box, but no joy. The Comcast remote will only switch on, otherwise it does not change channels etc. Again I have re-programmed the CC remote to work with the Sanyo TV, but still no success. I unplugged the TV in hopes of "clearing the system", but but that didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas please???

    Hi welcomejee:

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

In the interim, after some fiddling, I can now pull up a picture using the ComCast remote. In fact this remote now controls channel and volume selection - whereas before we had to use the Sanyo remote to control the sound. The problem I am left with now is an annoying on-screen display (in green) that I believe to be the cable access channel i.e. C3. For some reason I can't get into the Menu selection on the TV's remote. That is to say when I press the menu button on the remote it brings up the choices, but I can't access them using the remote's up/down/across buttons.

To excuse what may seem my stupidity, I should explain that we are staying in someone else's house while they are away and I am not familiar with their TV/Audio set up.

    Hi welcomejee:

Thanks for your suggestions to solve my TV problem. To excuse my stupidity, I should perhaps explain that we are staying in someone's house while they are away, and I am not familiar with their TV/audio equipment.

In the interim I have been able to access the TV/cable channels using the ComCast remote. With this remote we can also now select channels and adjust the volume - whereas before we had to use the Sanyo remote to control the volume.

The only problem I am left with is an annoying on-screen display that I can't seem to get rid of. I believe
it is the cable channel (C3) that gives acces to the cable channels. When I bring up the menu on the Sanyo remote I can't access the different choices, using the up/down/left and right buttons.

How to get Sanyo dp50741 out of hotel mode?!

This is for Panasonic but might help you
Getting out of the hotel mode is very easy. Just go get the Panasonic remote and open your tv. Go near the tv and hold down the AV/- button on the television itself. Then use the remote and press the AV button for 3 times. A hidden menu on the television screen will appear. Turn off the "Hotel Mode" from the menu and exit. Do not touch anything from the hidden menu except the hotel mode. Now you can use your tv in normal mode. The remote is required to access the hidden menu so be sure your remote is working and has working or full charged battery before doing the steps above.

Got a Sanyo DS25320 and using a universal remote. The screen is blue and says Video and when I hit menu it only gives me the option of auto/ manual/ game or language, can not get to the other selections....

The tv universal remotes are having very limited options in functions and tv universal remotes are only work correctly are like buttons power on/off volume up/down and channels up/down.Menu button and a Video setting option modes functions setting are another story all together. These two functions Menu button and Video setting modes funtions will not work correctly in any tv universal remotes.Because these Menu and Video setting modes are belong into the internal setting of the tv itself. It will only work correctly with the tv original remote only.Try website like to buy the tv original remote to use.

I cannot program the Directv remote to the Sanyo flat screen tv. What is the code and is there a specific button I have to pust to program it.

Thanks for your time. My husband tried to fix the problem and we could not use the remote at all. So he gave up. Our 28 year old daughter called DirecTV and was able to fix the problem and even give us better access to other programs. My husband had inadvertently programmed the tv opposite of what it should have been.

The DISPLAY button on the remote will remove the on-screen display, so you either have to order the original remote or look for a universal remote with a "display" button and hope it works.
