b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection

b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check cylinder compression

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:

2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:

I determined I needed to replace the battery. After doing this the starter is engaging and the engine turns over, but does not start. The gas is a couple of months old but I added 1 gallon of new with...

Adding good gas with treatment to bad gas DOES NOTHING. You need to remove the BAD GAS. Drain the tank. Does the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on? (makes a whirring noise for a few seconds and stops) If it does not - you need a new fuel pump.

My car has been sitting in the garage awhile ,because it had a bad battery. I started several months ago by jump starting it and it started just fine. however the other day i pulled it out and bought a new...

Sounds like you have bad gas. Gas goes bad after a couple months of sitting. I've gone through plenty of other options when trying to figure out this same problem, and it turned out to be the easiest problem of having old gas. Try running fresh gas straight into the fuel pump and see if it turns over then.

Won't start. Mower was in storage and unused for 2 yrs. Replaced spark plug. Still won't start.

bad gas...this "new gas" will last a few months. take the tank off, drain old gas out. if that doesnt solve it, the problem is in the carb. it will need to be taken apart and cleaned. next time use a product like staybil mixed in the gas, if its going to set for more than a month.

Rear window wiper works for a few days or weeks

Check the plug is completely plugged into the motor. Maybe a bad connection in the motor itself. Also check the switch, try wiggling it when turning on.

Car dies if accelerator is not engaged

the starting problem could be head gasket if it got really hot..... black smoke wouldn't be oil, and gas would stink but not black smoke if it's old, it wouldn't really matter if it had been sitting for 4 months. black smoke is probably caused by a gas mixture problem, or maybe a stuck fuel injector.

A 2 month old Goodman GMH95 natural gas furnace has been working properly until tonight. Now it starts up properly, but after 30 seconds (and right when the cirulator fan kicks on) it shuts the gas valve...

Goodman's control boards are very sensitive as well as the connections to the gas valves. Check the wires and make sure they are snug and tight. With it being only 2 months old, I doubt the board is bad or the flame sensor(unless it is a used system). So I would just snug and wiggle the wires on the board and the gas valve and try that.

Runs Real Bad....

I'm having similar problem with mine, and I think it's possible I got some bad gas. Maybe from an old backwoods gas station with condensation in their tanks, or maybe condensation as mine had been sitting for weeks at a time recently. I may try to completely drain every bit of gas, and change the fuel filter, and throw some fuel treatment in when I put new gas in. Gonna check a few other things first, though.
