Laser printers in general are not extremely good at photos. You may be able to increase the contact sheet picture size. If you've not already set "best quality" mode, try that.
Before replacing this awesome printer try this steps first.
First check the paper you're using, load the paper with the printing side down.
In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print .
Make sure the appropriate printer is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties.
Click the Printing Shortcuts tab. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.
Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .
Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product.
Make sure that the image file has enough resolution for the size of the printed picture. Although many photo applications can enlarge an image or part of an image to any size, eventually the individual pixels become visible and the whole image looks blurry.
Try increasing the screen resolution to maximum and colour quality to higher available. See whether proper driver has been loaded. If yes try reloading it and restart and check it
While it is common to down size images without losing picture quality, it is unfortunately not really possible to Increase the size of an image without losing picture quality (As you are currently experiencing)
This is why most digital cameras have such a high resolution, so that they can produce very large images that may be scaled down to the end users requirements.
Try to increase the video resolutions in your monitor choose the
highest screen resolutions in the settings. In the color quality try to
select 32 bit then try again to capture
You can select the quality of the pictures (pixels) with the "F" key. What you are talking about is "dots per inch", and that has to do with your printer................., where you can increase the dpi. 300dpi is not high quality at all !
hotoPC 650 captures images in 24-bit color (16.7 million colors). Your pictures will not display maximum image quality if your monitor or computer's video controller doesn't support this color depth. Additionally, if your pictures are taken in 1154 x 864 mode, try increasing your video resolution above 640 x 480. You may need to upgrade your system to achieve the best possible image quality. If your pictures look better on the screen than when you print them out, you may need to upgrade your printer. An EPSON Stylus ink jet printer, for example, provides excellent image quality. If you used drag and drop to insert your pictures, they may appear grainy. Try importing them into your documents instead.
