I have upvc windows & always have condensation inside the windows. Only time that I don't have this problem is in the summer months when the weather is fine. I have had the windows for the last 12 years. Is also in the corners of my bedroom on the outside wall & black spots on the ceiling. Any suggestions?

This is caused by high humidity and difference in temperature from inside to outside. So in winter when you have the heater on, there is a reaction when the inside of the upvc is heated and the outside is cooled and causes condensation to build up. Very similar to when you are in a car and there is humid cold weather. The black spots are very possibly a fungus growing as a result of the high humidity. You need to introduce fresh air into the house possible with a small inlet fan.

Why do condensation and frost come from air vents and can this be related to windows fogging unrelentingly in winter?

Suggest you check to see if your car has a cabin air filter. If so, changing this usually helps prevent the issue.

Which one is best between UPVC and Aluminium Doors & Windows?

I will prefer UPVC windows and doors because it is much advantageous than aluminum. Some points are given below-

Maintenance
Aluminum windows and doors need painting over long periods of usage whether UPVC windows and doors requires no painting; only routine cleaning.

Durability under Extreme Weather
Aluminum windows and aluminium doors can start fading after sustained exposure to sun. Start looking ugly. But, UPVC windows and doors have UV resistant blend; do not fade under sustained exposure to sun.

Aesthetics

Aluminum windows and aluminium doors can look cold and out of proportion whether UPVC windows and doors have elegant looks; enhances both; the exteriors and interiors of the building.

Which Door is best UPVC doors or wooden Doors ?

Wooden doors need maintenance regularly because they have poor insulation & also a poor conductor of heat. Other than UPVC windows are more environmentally friendly with elegant looks. UPVC windows and doors use international quality hardware that allows ease of use. So I think UPVC windows & doors are better than wooden doors. If you want to know more difference visit here http://www.fenesta.com/wood-windows-doors.aspx

Are UPVC sliding doors and windows are best to use in home?

Yes, UPVC sliding doors and windows are good to use in home. Its very gud to use and long lasting. The UPVC products doesn't require painting for long usage, they are poor conductors of heat, UV resistant, not prone to termites etc.
So, I would like to suggest you that you should use UPVC products instead of aluminium and wooden products. For more information you can directly check http://www.lghausys.com/in/product/windows/windows-doors-indian-style.jsp

I recently noticed that my GE window airconditioner has been leaking on the inside of my window. It has cause my new wooden windsill to turn black from the condensation dripping onto the sill. I did not...

Actually, you may have two issues. The drain hole may be clogged and the rear of the unit may not have enough downward tilt, to allow the water to flow to the rear of the drip pan and ultimately out thru the drain hole. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" rear downward tilt.

As far as the drain hole is concerned, it can be hard to find at times. Because the clog will often times blend in the drain hole. Patience & persistence are required in locating it. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the clog.

Troubleshooting the above should help to solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

WINDSHIELD FOGGING UP INSIDE WHEN ITS SUMMER TIME. I NOTICE THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT(SUMMER TIME). MY WINDSHIELD WILL BE COVERED WITH LIKE A SMALL FILM AND IT GLARES WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNNY...

HI,
I think you are experiencing normal condensation,
try putting the heat and AC control to the position that blows a small amount of conditioned air up through the defrosters. This dries the windshield.
Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!

I Just bought a condo with an air conditioner and heater, I do not have an instruction manual. I would like to know how to set my air conditionner for the summer months, while I am away.

Set the thermostat high enough to keep the humidity under control to prevent mold..........in the neighborhood of about 82 - 85degF should be good. The summer months are typically the higher temp & humidity months. If your system does not already have one, I strongly recommend the installation of a safety float switch in the condensate line. The float switch is typically installed in the secondary drain line. In the event your condensate drains clog up (and they do!) the switch will "break" the power to the compressor contactor. This will prevent your condo from getting "flooded" with buckets of water that the a/c can produce in a day's time. Granted, it will shut off the a/c, but it will save you hundreds of dollars worth of flood damage.

About halfway through this video, Mike is demonstrating an SS-1 type switch.
