We had the same problem. Took it in to a repair guy and he said he would have to replace the sound board which is very expensive. We are using att uverse right now and have the sound from the box going to a stereo and it works great. We are going back to cable and didn't want to use a box, so now we are trying to figure it out again. We just might have to rent a box again.

I lost some of the sound after trying to adjust volume settings.

1. It could be a temporary situation. This case I suggest you to restart your machine and to re-check your sound parameters.
2. It might be a alteration of the sound driver generated by an "interference" with a third party software (media player or game or anything else that requires access to the sound driver). This case I suggest you to do a search on the Internet and to find and to download the SPECIFIC SOUND DRIVER that works on your device.

Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop with FN Volume issues.

Starbug1S1- This may have been something you have already checked but I will suggest anyways. You said you had control of your sound from other means - Sounds and Audio Devices properties was one- did you notice a check box that reads Place volume icon on the task bar. This may remedy part of your problem if you put a check in the box. Hopefully this helps. Thanks.

Probably your optical unit is worn. If you 700s are the newer ones, it'll be easy. Unscrew the 4 black screw under the unit to release the cover. Is the optical unit is exposed, check the label over it. If it says DWY1069, you'll only have to replace it, readily avaliable on ebay. It can be found very cheap ($15-$25).
If it says DWY1067, you have a big problem like me. 1067 is out of production. Check my other posts on how i'm trying to solve it.

Lost sound from LIkom HD17a LCD monitor

It was stupid, the volume on the monitor had been turned all the way down. I checked to make sure it wasn't muted but never checked the volume level. Thanks anyway.

Volume lost

Try this, go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, select audio tab and make sure the sound playback and record are set to your sound card.
I hope this helps.
I have another idea but try this one first and let us know if it works.
Good Luck.

My big screen tv has almost completely lost it's volume. It's turned all the way up but you can hardly hear it. The remote works fine and the picture is great. Just lost most of the sound. What gives.

sounds like the amplifier board has gone bad. If you have an external home theatre, i suggest routing the audio through that, as the boards can be pricey

I have an IMODE IP215 that has lost sound. Any suggestions

i am in Colombia, and year ago i bought in USA at Circuitcity (Miami) an Imode Ip 215 Clock Radio with IPOD dock station for a nephew gift. It functions several months without any problem but suddenly it does not sound anymore. A technician examination determined that the problem was not the volume control as i though but the CD8227CP Integrated . The Headphone jack always worked fine in spite of that problem, though the volume was fixed..
Idon't know if this common problem of the Imode devices mut be due to a defective or bad quality sound piece

I hope this help you to determine thereal problem.

Hello, just wanted to answer your request... last time chat was stopped or something like that cuz I waited a long time but did not get any answers to the last thing I told you. (you told me that you were using a Pentium 2.8... but your motherboard, if it is the model you posted in your problem... is for AMD processors, so it is imposible for that CPU to work on ***********... Im just taking what you told me, if you are sure you have a pentium then this is completely useless... if you need, get back to me, G luck!

No sound

Hi guys

It sounds like the unit has locked up from a power flip type situation. I suggest powering the unit down completely overnight and then fire it up again in the morning and see how it behaves. Some of your system menu presets may have lost their settings and may need to be setup again also. Get back to me here if you have the same condition after doing a full reset in this manner.
