Andy, if this is the version with the coin slide mechanism, you only need to open up the coin box and remove the knock-outs for the other coin slots to the amount you wish to charge. If your coin slide doesn't allow for 8 quarters, you'll have to change/adjust the coin slot mechanism to use tokens so you can charge a certain price for the tokens equal to $2.00 etc.

In other words, if you've got the ability to accept 4 quarters presently and (as I suspect) you only have another (2) slots available to knock out for a total of $1.50 in coins to run the washer, you'll have to go to tokens and re-key the slots to accept tokens valued at 50 cents each and then you could have the washer accept (4) of these tokens which would equal the $2.00 you want to charge.

Of course, this will require you to get yourself a bill changer and tokens that are just slightly larger than a quarter (to prevent quarters from being used and letting users wash for 1/2 price.

If you can accept up to either (8) quarters, then you only need to remove the knock outs for the other four (4) slots in the coin slide mechanism. To do this, simply open up the coin box with your key and once you have the slide mechanism visible, you simply use a screwdriver and a pair of pliers to remove the block strips in the coin slots. Once you've done that, it will take either (8) quarters to do a load of wash, effectively changing the cost of using your coin operated washing machine.

Here's a link to Maytag's site with their coin op machines so you can contact them for an owner's manual for your washer, if you've misplaced or lost yours.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Andy, without the detailed pictures for your specific coin operation mechanism, I can't "see" what you're describing. I've tried to locate the manual for the washer model number you provided, but can't locate anything with that number.

I would recommend that you call Maytag directly and speak with them, providing them with the complete model and serial number from the data plate on the washer. They can then assist you with getting the detailed instructions for the specific coin mechanism that was installed on your exact washing machine.

Since it is a new machine, I do not want to have you don something that might not be 100% correct for your unit, since I am unable to find the manual for the model number you provided.

I hope this helps, so here is the info from another Maytag Commercial (coin operated) washer model which provides owners a 24 hours, 7 days a week toll free phone number for support.

    Best regards!

    If you need assistance:

The Maytag Consumer Interaction Center will answer any

questions about operating or maintaining your washer not

covered in the Installation Instructions. The Maytag Consumer

Interaction Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just

dial 1-800 NO BELTS (1-800-662-3587) - the call is free.

When you call, you will need the washer model number and serial

number. Both numbers can be found on the serial-rating plate

    located on your appliance.

If this is the type that has the slide in coin slots, then you can remove the grey plastic slots in the slide. They have a special tool that removes them or you can use a flat-head screw driver and remove the plastic tabs that way. Does this info pertain to your machine, or would you like some more info?

SOURCE: Coin washer and dryer.

Since I can't be sure that you are the owner of the machines and not someone just trying to make the laundry free I couldn't tell you online since others would then know. To change it depends on the manufacturer of the machine and the model. You will have to contact them about it. If you give me the make, I can get you a number to call but they most likely will need to verify that you are the owner. So please contact the manufacturer about this or let me know who the manufacturer is and I can get you a number to help you out but since anyone could see this, I can't post the specific knowledge that you are asking even if I know the make and model of the machine in question. I hope this helps, please let me know

You should be able to get the instructions from Whirlpool (who now owns Maytag). You will need to give them the Model #.

Change the price on maytag top loading washer

Price change for a model MAT12.
Remove the access plate above the coin acceptor with a key. The display should show code 6 and two numbers. Code 6 is the regular cycle and the number of coins required to start. Press the perm press button to advance the number of coins. 06 equals 6 quarters, 08 equals 8 quarters, etc.
Reinstall the access door when finished.

I would like to change the vending price on my commercial washer machine it is a speed queen front loader 30 pound washer.

First of all, thank you very much for choosing FIXYA today for your technical support needs.

I'm Joe, and I will be more than happy to assist you with your service request.

Without the exact model number of the washer and the model number of the coin chute, I can only give you some general instructions which may or may not apply to your particular model.

However, here is a direct link to an ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for one model of Speed Queen Coin Operated Front Load Washer:

http://www.speedqueen.com/tech_pdf/Production/802733en.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted text just above.

This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents, although many computers already have this utility pre-installed.

You can always download this for free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.

Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

And here are some links to the instructions for changing the price on a couple of different models of coin chutes common for those types of washers:

Please COMMENT back here to this page if you have any details to add such as the exact model numbers for your washer and coin chutes, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

BEFORE leaving a rating OTHER THAN 5 STARS or a negative TESTIMONIAL, please contact me and I will immediately clear up any concerns or answer any additional questions that you might have until you are completely satisfied with the service provided. The FixYa rating system is a very important component of the Marketplace, and unfortunately once you post a rating or a testimonial to a solution, it cannot be changed at all later on.

Be sure to use the small blue ADD A COMMENT button located just below the text of this solution to leave any additional comments for me regarding this particular issue and I will respond right away.

I truly hope that was helpful to you.

Good luck and take care.

Joe.
