Question about HP Compaq Presario CQ60-249US Notebook

1 Answer

Compaq Presario CQ60-249 US Notebok PC: I left the notebook on for 10 hours on sleep mode. while I was asleep. When I woke up, I tried to move the mousepad to make it exit sleep mode but no response. So I pressed the power button so I can quickly turn it off to give it time to cool off. About three hours later, I turned it on but nothing was shown on the screen and I still hear the fan even though the notebook is completely cooled off. I waited until the next day to turn it on, but the same thing happen. I have warranty available still but I wonder if there is something I can do about it before I have to resort to using the warranty.

In case it is in warranty, so not try to repair it as it may void the warranty. It is better to take it to a service center. Moreover in this case, it seems to be fault with the screen, so your data would be safe.

How do you wake up a controller that is asleep?

The majority of controllers have a sleep timer. If the chair is on for a specific time period without use, it turns itself off, or, goes into a sleep mode. The chair is in a sleep mode when the operator tries the move forward and the chair does not move and lights on the controller blink rapidly.

To solve this, simply turn off chair, wait 10-30 seconds and turn chair back on. You should be able to operate as normal.

Compaq Presario CQ50-103NR Notebook PC stuck in sleep mode

Try and perform a Hard Reset onto your laptop.

Performing Hard Reset
1. Turn off PC
2. Unplug both battery and ac adapter
3. Hold Down on the power button for 30 seconds
4. Plug everything back in and turn it on.

When you are back at your desktop screen, change the sleep mode and display settings to 1 minute to see if you can wake it back up.
If not, then load into your BIOS by pressing F10 during boot up. Once in BIOS, press the F9 key and select "load defaults". Once you load defaults, press to F10 key again to save changes and exit. After that, search the hp website using your product # on your laptop to see if there are any BIOS updated for your product.

Compaq Presario stuck in sleep mode

Connect the monitor to some other computer, e.g., a notebook, and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then the monitor is the problem.
If it does not, then your computer is not putting-out any "video" signal, and so the monitor goes to "sleep".

If you have MORE than one VGA-output port on your computer, connect your monitor to the "other" VGA port.

Or, press-and-hold the ON/OFF button on your computer, to force it to completely shutdown.

MY PHILLIPS LAPTOP IS MELTING!

Remove the battery and disconnect the power INMEDIATLY
This could be due to:
A) a faulty fan inside the PC (is not cooling it down)
B) a faulty battery.. there have been cases of melting and even “exploding” batteries (specially if they were not genuine batteries)

Take it to a service centre for further diagnostic.

Sleep and standby

Well... Sleep and Standby are not the same. While Sleep only turns off a few things, like display, WiFi, and HDD to save energy. Standby saves your session to the Hard Disk, the reason why the laptop seems unresponsible. This is the reason to uncheck Stanby if you want a fast wake-up.
