-   I have just updated to a 3rd generation ipod nano. I installed i-tunes 7 on my pc but my computer wont recognise the ipod. Actually is does and it doesn't. Every ten seconds or so the screen on the ipod brightens with the "eject before disconnecting" window and when this happens on the ipod, the computer actually recognises it(comes up as a pop up as well as in the device manager). It only recognises it for a couple of seconds and then its back to "unknow USB device". I had just as many hassels with my first ipod, should have bought the Sony?-   rednef
ok this will work forshur!!

ok go to start menu
and right click my computer
go to hardware
and device manager
scroll down and u will see
a red exclamation point by
apple ipod usb driver
right click it and press uninstall
and then go all the way up again
on the first icon

it will have some letters/numbers
right click it and press
scan for hardware changes
and then it will reinstall the ipod driver !
hope that fixes your problem! :]
Make sure you have iTunes installed on the computer you are using. Are you using the same type of computer as was first used to load music on? If you use a mac, the mac will reformat the ipod to mac format and then load the music on. If you are now using a PC (or vice versa) you may run into problems.
You can also try resetting the ipod by holding Menu and Select buttons down for 10-15 seconds.
I just experienced this same problem (windows just wont recognize the ipod at all) but I was surprised that the issue went away once the ipod was FULLY CHARGED to 100%.
So, if you are experiencing this same problem - I would recommend disconnecting the ipod from your PC, charging the battery completely to 100%, then try connecting it again.
