If your PS3 will not play any disks then most likely there is a problem with the laser on the drive. Now you can try to clean it and some times this will work. On the systems that come in about 50% of them get fix by me cleaning the laser.

Note very important DO NOT USE a DVD/CD cleaner disk on the PS3. You may scratch the lense on the drive. You will need to find one that is supported in a Blu-Ray drive (I do not know if they make them yet because I normally break the system down to clean it)

Also note if the system is in warranty call Sony and/or the place that you got your extended warranty through before opening the system.
If you think you can open the system you self there are several walk throughs on the internet. However if you are not an Computer Tech I would recommend to look for someone in your area because taking apart the system can be hard.

hello,
many others have had the same problem and i believe perhaps the laser lens is dirty. i know that youtube.com has great vids telling you exactly how to clean your ps3 laser lens and get your system up and running again.
