Type in run "chkdsk /r"

After completion of disk checking it load windows but if still not load windows then you need recovery disk or windows disk then boot computer with it then repair old windows.

Acer brand laptop computers are designed to be small, portable units that are great for logging onto the Internet and checking email on the go.
As your Acer laptop ages, you may start to notice that it runs a little more sluggish than it used to. As Acer brand laptops run on the Windows operating system, luckily there are a few built-in tools that you can use to boost performance and generally speed up your machine without spending any additional money.

Use the "Disk Cleanup" tool. This tool is built into all Acer laptop computers and is accessible by clicking on "Start," then "Programs," then "Accessories," then "System Tools."
Disk Cleanup will remove any files left behind by programs on your Acer laptop computer that are no longer needed.
This can free up valuable hard drive space and generally give your Acer laptop computer a bit of a performance boost.
Use the "Disk Defragmenter" tool.
As with Disk Cleanup, this tool is built into all Acer laptop computers and is accessible through the same folder in the "Start" menu.
Disk Defragmenter physically rearranges the way bytes of data are stored on your hard drive, making it easier for your operating system to access pertinent information.
As it will take your computer less time to find the information you're requesting, your computer will speed up a great deal.

Get anything you can off of your hard drive. In order to keep the price down, Acer laptop computers tend to come with smaller hard drives than full sized laptops.
As a result, hard drive space can be very precious.
The more data is stored on a hard drive the longer it will take your operating system to sort through everything and find the files you're trying to access.
If you empty any files you don't need onto a flash drive or external hard drive, you can generally improve the speed of your Acer laptop computer a great deal.

I need my computer back to the way it was when I bought it do I do a clean installation

laptop model is aspire 5570 Z with a Z zee instead of 2 two

First, BACKUP WHAT YOU WANT!!!!! IT WILL BE GONE WHEN YOU FINISH!!!!! If you cannot get to your files, start in safe mode and collect them. if you cannot get to safe mode. grab a linux live cd, such as knoppix, you can boot a whole linux os from cd without installing and retrieve your files VIRUS FREE!!!!! once you feel you have backed up what you want to keep follow these insructions.

    • 1 Reboot your computer. As the computer comes on, click the "F2" key on your keyboard. This will activate the BIOS utility screen.
    • 2 Locate the Acer disk-to-disk recovery system on the first screen of BIOS and click the box to enable it. This will allow you to reset the computer without a recovery disk. Save your settings and exit BIOS per the instructions on the screen.

    • 3 Restart the computer.
    • 4 Press "ALT + F10" on your keyboard as soon as the Acer logo appears on the screen.
    • 5 Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a system recovery and reset the computer to the factory default settings.

Hello, I have had my Acer Aspire One netbook since January and it worked fine until now. It tries to boot but then I get this screen: > Checking file system on C: The type of file system is FAT32. One...

First of all, boot from a windows cd and proceed forward until you reach the format options, and check out if there's any problem with the c: drive or not. Sometimes this happens when the drive is corrupted. If it's ok then run windows repair setup and restore it again. In case this ins't possible, (if you have multiple partition on the system), i would suggest you to install additional windows on another drive/partition, boot from it and check if c: drive is ok or not.
If unfortunately the drive is corrupted, there's no other option for you to boot without formating c: drive, but you can run a quick format and recover the files (if there are important files saved on your system[C; drive]).
I would wish to know after all these.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My computer is always checking the disk even if it is properly shuted down

Disk checking is sometime good but if system finds any missing entries or corrupt files it will keep doing the checks.

First thing to do is let the disk checkingbe done 100% and disk checking doesnt goes through 100% or hangs in between you can try below option.
To avoid such scanning microsoft has developed utility CHKNTFS

One time you can skip the disk scanning and log into the system
Go to start->run-> type cmd and hit enter
black screen will open up. Type the following command in there to stop disk checking on particular drive.

chkntfs /X C: D: E:

Put the drive letter that you always find going under disk scanning

I've been trying to restore my acer aspire one zg5 to its factory setting, but pressing alt+f10 dont work. i also tried the acer recovery icon and it always show that there is a problem with the...

Follow etaf's instructions above, if you cannot enter the Acer recovery utility try this...

Do not press and hold Alt + F10. Do it like this... From the Acer splash screen press and hold the Alt key while constantly pecking the F10 key.

However, you want to save all of your photos, favorites folder, music etc. on an external disk or flash drive before entering the Acer restore utility above. Anything that DID NOT come pre-installed on your netbook will be lost. Once restored, always, always, always back up your system with an external disk or flash drive as you go, meaning that as you add legitimate software and personal files to your PC and your PC works normally, back it up. It's cheap and the next time this happens you can enter plug in your flash or disk run the restore, and have EVERYTHING back including the stuff that did not come on your system when you bought it.

My Acer Aspire 1 gets stuck when the Windows XP logo apears and just keeps booting, what can I do?

Hard Drive error on the Disk most likely... Try to go to Windows "Safe Mode"... pressing F5 before you see the XP Logo and after you see the system information screens. Once in safe mode... run ScanDisk.
Open My Computer | Right Click C Drive | Left Click Properties | Tools Tab Run Check Disk for Errors... also check mark both boxes.
Reboot

Acer L100 comp wont start past the windows loading screen

Hi,

If I were you I would reformat your PC. In short words reformatting you Delete everything from the pc, the reinstall the OS(Operating System). Once the process is done, your PC is alot faster, and fresh. What happens to most people's PC it gets bogged down, and you go along time without cleaning it it will crash, just like a car.

There are hidden folders within the OS such as the prefetch where files are kept to help you boot problems faster, but the prefetch gets bigger each day, and isn't really needed.

To clean the prefetch you would go to Start>Run>type "prefetch" without quotes, once it opens the folder delete ALL files in it, a shortcut is to click any fil inside the prefetch, and press "ctrl+A" that will select all the files and now simply press Delete, and confirm Yes.

Something else to help maximize your system is to do a "disk clean up" access that by going to start>all programs>accessories>system tools

I hope this helped you maintain a better system in the future, if I were you I would go ahead and do the reformat then use the tips I just gave you to keep your system in shape.

Also another top make sure you keep your system clean of threats,(malware,spyware,adware,etc...) I would recommend Norton or Mcfee, I go with www.grisoft.com and www.eset.com, another one I like is www.trendmicro.com its up to you which you choose.

Good Luck!
