Question about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS / IXUS 100 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

No connection recognition

When trying to put pictures from my ixus to the computer, I've installed everything in the way the manual has told me to using the solution disk, but when I connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable, the connection is not recognised so I can't get onto Canon CameraWindow. I have tried with all other programs shut down but it makes no difference. Any ideas?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You may have to disable the onboard microphone to use the connected hardware.
Realtek is very picky, same goes with speakers connected to the back and front at the same time, no sound. Disable the one you are not using.

Download and install the Blackberry Desktop Suite, connect BB to PC, go to Applications, and install the missing apps, putting the + sign in front of the app, then click install. Wait about 20 minutes, the phone restarts, and that's it!

Can't connect camera to computer (Windows XP)

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following post, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. Note that card readers are also VERY inexpensive. Just make sure you get one that's stated capable of reading your S200's CF card.:

Moving photos

Sorry, no. You can use a card reader to put the pictures on the card. Bear in mind that if you've done any editing on the photos then the camera may not display them.
