I have a Brother PE770. It is running just fine, but leaving little brown (looks like oil) spot on top of the fabric. They wash out easily enough, but how do I fix this?

You need to figure out exactly what is causing the brown spots. If it is, in fact, old oil, you may want to moisten a soft piece of fabric with rubbing alcohol and clean the presser foot bar and needle bar as the oil could be running down and staining the fabric.

How to clean and oil machine

Depends on the make/model of your machine. Different machines require different care. It is important to clean and oil frequently as directed in the owner's manual. Be sure to use the correct oil--no 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or old and stinky sewing machine oil. (If it is brown, throw it out!!!) Also, one or two drops each spot is sufficient--do not over-oil!

Problems with tension? Install a brand new needle.

Remove the upper thread completely from the machine. Raise the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Confirm that the thread path is correct.

Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low numbers (this is a good beginning point, but may need some tweaking, especially when dealing with different threads and fabrics).

Confirm the bobbin is loaded in the bobbin case correctly and threaded properly.

Test your machine. If the upper thread is showing under the fabric, the upper tension is too loose. If the bobbin thread is pulling to the top of the fabric, the upper tension is too tight.

Tension is correct when the upper and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

My bosch coffee machine says unit calcif what does this meen and how do i remove it

Calcif - means calcification detected. Calcification is calcium build up left in the machine that needs to cleaned off before it damages it. It looks like white build up that sticks to the sides of the unit and it can become hard & flaky.

There are many products that work to clean out your machine. Some people use white vinegar and let it brew in the machine the same way you would coffee to clean it out. Many places sell products to clean coffee machines like office supply stores or grocery stores. I can't think of one in specific to reccomend to you to clean your machine. I would suggest referring to your manual to see if it lists one in specific so that you do not void your warranty.

How do I change the light bulb in my Bernina 1230 sewing machine? Is it made to be replaced only when serviced?

There is a small brown screwdriver/gadget that came in your accessory box included with the Bernina 1230. At one end, it is black plastic with a small point coming out of it. That end is used for tightening or loosening the screw that holds the needle in place. On the opposite end (brown on mine) it is hollow. This hollow end is pushed up and onto the lightbulb. (The bulb fits into the hollow.) Push up (firmly) and twist to the left to remove the light. To replace the bulb, insert the new one into the hollow spot on the holder and push it up and into the receptacle - twist to the right to lock it in place. There are actually two light bulbs, the one on the right is covered by a diffuser, but they both use the same procedure. It's easy to do and you are meant to be able to do it yourself. The pictures and instructions are on page 51 of the Bernina Guide. Hope this helps.

My glasses arecoming out with soap and water spots. I think the dishwashing soap has clogged up the washer/ sprayer arms. is there any cleaning solvant (eg CLR) I can use to clean out the washer

add rinse aid to rinse aid dispenser... that should help the spots.. as for cleaning the arms.. not really necessary... but you should pull them off occasionally and see if there is something stuck in the holes... i found rice in mine.
