Power to house went out during area power outage. Everything came back on except the computer? Tries to restart by holding power switch in, unplugged and replugged power cord - no response on monitor. ...

When the power is returned after a power outage it can cause a power surge and damage electronic equipment such as a computer. This is a reason to install a surge protection power board and connect your computer equipment to a surge protection board.
The switch mode power supply may be faulty and replacing it may get your computer operating again.
If you cannot DIY then ask a friend or take it to a computer repair shop.

llindfors61, Hi, 12fixlouie here. This monitor must be past it's 3 year warranty period. You or qualified "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp back-lit lcd monitor technician will need to replace some electrolytic filter capacitors that may have failed on the internal "switch-mode-power-supply" printed circuit board. Retrevo . com lists this unit as "time to retire" If you repair power supply, unit may function for 2-3 more years, but will need new cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps installed at some future date when screen "white's" start to turn "faint pink" in color. Lots of video clips at YOUTUBE about replacing capacitors. Write back to me by aoing additional comment an rate this response after doing your research. 12fixlouie

Intel 845 GL mother board no display ;processor memory & SMPS are working fine in another mother board

Does it have any beep sounds on switching on( some computers won't produce beep sound) or does your monitor is not getting any signals from computer even though it is ON and has shown any message or menu screen of Monitor functions then,
You will be having a faulty RAM or your Graphic port has some hardware malfunction.Or it can be also from a new unsupported hardware installation that will prevent computer from booting up.

If your monitor does not provide any of the above monitor functions successfully then
It would be a monitor problem. Check wires or cables of monitors or contact nearby technical support

No vedio

swap monitors if monitor is same dell brand then its the monitor. otherwise you can buy a Video card PROVIDED that you can disable from setup the MOBO video card, and install drivers, also speaking of drivers try uninstalling the video and monitor drivers first !! the do mon swap, finally new vid card .

funky things can happen to drivers, esp improper shutting down windows like flip a power switch or not having a UPS and computer shuts down during a power outage or storm. seen this happen as well.

No signal means, monitor has not been connected. (for crt s) and, on startup (for lcd s) . Easiest solution should be, PLEASE REMOVE AND PLACE THE RAM TIGHTLY AGAIN. i hope, it will solve the problem, if you have recently traveled with your cpu.

Computer turns on, but there is no display on monitor.

my goodness.. you have spent a lot in your computer i think.. i dont think changing mother board and installing a new vedio card will solve this problem.
as u have said that u have installed a new card make sure that you are giving the connections of your monitor to the gforce card and not to the mother board again.

if connection for monitor is going for gforce properly your RAM is the problem. as per your configuration its single 512mb ram. i would advice you to go and get another DDR RAM(same 512 prefrably) from any of your friend and put it in you mother board in by removing the normal RAM you had.
this will work for sure i think.
if this is not working dont rate me in-approtiate. i just triend my best. sorry and tahnks.. good luck
