BIOS RAM change on Dell Poweredge 1600SC

I've upgraded the RAM by 1MB and I need to change the BIOS to run the larger memory.
When I go into the BIOS I can see the larger memory in blue - how do I confirm the larger memory to the server?
Many thanks
Bruce

Need abetter graphic card for acer aspire 5251

in Acer Aspire Series is using Intergrated Graphic Card.
that mean if you wanna Upgrade your Graphic Resolution,
you have to set to a bigger shared memory/RAM for Display Graphic Card/VGA memory from BIOS Setup.
for example if you using RAM 2Gb, and you can make your VGA(Video Graphic Adapter) to 1Gb.
But in My Computer Properties the RAM will Show only 1Gb.
Because another 1Gb of RAM you've use for VGA.
you can check it from dxdiag.
(for opening dxdiag > Click Start > click RUN... > type dxdiag > and Oke/Enter)

I m trying to upgrade my HP compaq nc6320 RAM MEMORY from 1GB to 4GB, Do i need BIOS upgrade if yes from were i can find the drivers and how can i do it? thanx i am gone wait for respond......

Hi,

As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.

You do not require any drivers or bios update.

Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB

Further questions? let me know.

-You don't need to buy the memory upgrades from Dell. All you need is to get the memory/RAM specifications then buy it from any computer store.

I have ECS P4M800PRO-v1.0 Mother board.I upgrade the RAM with SRD1G86U2-D4H.But after insttaling I have a problem of blue screen with error stop-0*0000008E.Disebeled bios memory option.

RAM problems -  you have probably installed a DDR memory module in a DDR2 memory slot or you are trying to run both DDR and DDR2 at the same time.

I changed my1G ram in my asus 900ah to a 2g CrucialDDR2

As reported on the EeeUser forum, the EeePC 900 is somewhat picky with RAM upgrades. If the RAM chip is not exactly spec’d like the stock RAM module, then the computer would be prone to freezing, especially when switching between battery and mains power.

Also, note that the RAM module that came with the EeePC 900 is an AData PC2-3200 (running at 400 MHz) with part number DOGC1A08342. I find it strange that the chip is a 400 MHz one. Even the original 512MB chip that came with my EeePC 701 was a 667 MHz one!
This means if you plan to upgrade your 900’s RAM, better make sure the module is compatible!

P.S.: If this information was helpful, please rate this solution.

Update BIOS for memory upgrade

You cannot change the memory settings in BIOS. All you need to do is go into the bios screen. confim that it has seen your new memory and "save and exit" If it is not showing your new memory try removing and reinstalling the memory confirming it is installed correctly. it should just see it.

Blue Screen of death

According to this link, the memory of Compaq Evo N610c can be upgradable to 1024 mb.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11382_div/11382_div.HTML

Memory Upgrade for Compaq Evo N610C, the Compaq Evo N610C takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Evo N610C to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with standard Memory installed. For best system performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your system. (Souce: http://www.memorystock.com/memory/CompaqEvoN610C.html)

So you have to install 512mb memory module on each slot to make up 1024mb of memory.

Did you install 512mb memory module on each slot or did you just install 1GB memory module in one slot?

Try to go back to 256mb RAM and see if you will have the same blue screen error. If you did not receive any blue screen, try to add memory into it or just insert 512mb first and then oserve again if you will have the blue screen error.

Maxed memory or drivers causing R51e causing BSOD ???

you're mixing 2 different things. the cache is very small, 512KB , 1MB, 2MB 4MB(at the newest CPUs) and it comes with your CPU, when you change the CPU, you change the cache, you cannot work without the cache, its impossible.
the ram, however, is upgradable. and its typical sizes are 512MB, 1GB... etc.
have you updated the BIOS?
are the memory sticks fit for your computer (some times, the fact the memory sticks have different speeds can cause problems?

you are not suppose to see the cache (512kb) of your boot up
