SOURCE: Wii games won't play....

Call customer service. It seems that some Wii's are scratching dics. The warranty will cover it. Look on the readable side of the disc and see if it is leaving circular scatches. Mine is doing the same thing to certain games.

SOURCE: Wii unable to read disc

One of two things has probably happened and is the case 9 out of 10 times. Your drive may have gone bad either due to a chip failure or a laser failure. It's also possible if the unit has gotten hot that the connection to the drive isn't making good connection anymore. This happens a lot. To fix it you would have to open the unit up. I don't recommend this if you have never worked on consoles or other electronics before. If the unit is under warrenty send it in for repair. Otherwise you would have to pay for the repairs. You can also sell the unit as broken on ebay and generally recover quite a lot of your money.

If you are good with repairs of electronics you may choose to open it up and do some troubleshooting. There are several places on the internet that outline how to open the wii and how to troubleshoot it's problems. If you decide to go this route you will void any warrenty you might have. However sometimes this is about the only solution people have without spending money for Nintendo to fix it.

SOURCE: "Unable to read disc" Wii

Your Wii most likely has a problem with the system that reads the disks. If you system is under warranty, you should be able to get it replaced or fixed at no charge, since it is Nintendo's problem.

SOURCE: new super mario brothers wii game won't play.

Look on the back of your game case you will see the Nintendo phone number call them and tell them your game ant working on your Wii then they will send you a fax or a Email with a Lable print it off and ship your Wii to the company DO NOT send the game in the case and DON'T send your Wii in the box or they will get mixed up and keep it. Send the Disc in a white little case. oh yeah and don't send the cords to the wii. And in about 1-3 weeks they will send your stuff back fixed. They do not give a new game nor wiii they just clean it becuase there's something in the wii that only works mario bros and when that gets dirty the game won't work.

I had the same problem. Hope this information helps you good luck.

WII unit will not read disk when put in. Screen says there is an error and to remove disk but gives no other directions. What may the problem be?

"Unable to read the disc" or "Disc could not be read" Messages
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
    • This message can display if you eject a disc during game play. If this is when the message displayed, make sure that you return to the Wii Menu before changing discs if you wish to play a different game.

    • If your Wii console is laying flat, it may be positioned upside down. Ensure that is positioned right-side up: the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.

    • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
      • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
      • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

    • Check our list of specific game issues to see if there is a known issue with that particular title.
    • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures (click here).

If the above information did not resolve the issue or it is happening with most or all of your games, a repair is necessary. Please note: So that our technicians are able to duplicate the issue, please include at least one sample game disc that causes this message to appear when played. Click here to set up a repair.

Wont read discs

If it only does this for this one game, you may have a defective game disc, it happens. Often, if you have just recently purchased it, you can return it to the store and tell them that it was defective and get a new one. If not, you can always try cleaning it though I doubt that's the problem.
nintendo.com says "If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options."
