Question about Samsung PCL545R 54" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Bad ghosting of all colours

First it started with the red colour starting to go out of convergance so i tried to adjust it with the perfect focus feature but that wouldnt go though it procedure so then i tried to adjust it manualy but it wouldnt let me get it right. So i then unpluged the tv from the wall socket for around 45 minutes. then i pluged it back in it was still the same for about 15 minutes and then all the colours did the same thing as the red. it still wont do the perfect focus or adjust manualy. any help would be gratefully appeciated.

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneerbad ghosting of all colours - 2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

"Perfect Focus" problem on Samsung HCN4727W

You have a bad sensor, a bad digital convergence board, or the new board is not working correctly. I would start by swaping out the convergence board or exchange it for another one. Good Luck

My samsung projection tv #pcl5415r don't want to perform perfect focus adjustments

perfect focus functions are based on service mode setup...or factory settings. if the alignment of these setting are loss then the unit wont perfect focus. does the unit have a complete loss of convergence. a complete loss of convergence indicate possible failure of convergence amps.
