My IKEA Renlig DWH B40 stopped runningand alarm sounds and is full of water. Turning off and on does not help. I empty it and try to restart but chime keeps sounding when turned on with door closed. Button to cycle through options does not work,

Please double check that you've properly closed the dishwasher doors before you attempt a cycle. The ikea might be emptying an water coming in because it thinks the door is open.

Also, please attempt to use a different cycle than the one that you're currently using to see if you'll get different results.

The powdery residue is likely limescale, although I have worked in some catering kitchens where it was a used by a block-type detergent. Descale it with a product like CLR or white vinegar or follow the manufacturers instructions.

In hard water areas you may need a product like Calgon in every wash.

Check page 13 of installation book, make sure you don't have a droop in discharge line.

Similar just happened to us. Turned power off, waited a while, opened door. pressed and held power on button then pressed and held also the select button. Brought it back to life. End leds lit up and i could then select and worked when i shut the door. Ours is a smaller Renlig. Good luck.

Can you hear the motor running? If the motor is runningand machine is full of water, but not pumping water around, you have one of the following problems:
-a blockage in the filters or sump preventing enough water getting to motor impellor,
-blocked jets in spray arms themselves,
-or I have had cases where the impellor has broken off the motor, hence motor runs but doesn't pump any water around. Check for blockages first, wouldn't suggest you take motor out and disassemble unless qualified or confident to do so (it's not an easy job if you haven' done it before!!)

This dishwasher should be connected to the hot water line under the sink. If it is connected to the cold line, you will have very poor cleaning. The hot water should be 120 degrees (F) minimum and less than 140 degrees.
