How do you reset the htc tilt

You might need to soft or hard reset your HTC Tilt smartphone if you have issues with it freezing or locking up. Here's how.

Soft Reset

Simply use the stylus to press the small Reset button on the bottom of the unit.

Hard Reset

A hard reset erases all data off of the HTC Tilt.

1. Press and hold the left and right softkeys at the same time.

2. While continuing to hold both buttons, use the stylus to press the Reset button at the bottom of your device.

3. Release the Reset button and continue to hold down the 2 softkeys until you see a message about deleting all data from the device.

4. Press the Phone button to complete the hard reset.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Thanks, Joe

I forgot my password on my tilt 8925

only way to reset your phone is to reset it completely which will wipe everything off your phone.
Hold the 2 softkeys (under screen left & right) and at the same time push the reset button with your stylus. Continue to hold the soft keys until a message comes up asking if you want to do a reset

New to htc

The half-white screen is definitely not a good sign. The "hold and tap" screen you see is the alignment screen normally seen at a "fresh" startup.

If this is the PPC6800 Mogul, there is a small pinhole reset button on the bottom of the unit. Using the stylus, push the button, This will "soft reset" the unit.

If this doesn't work, you can try hard resetting it:

1. Press and hold both softkeys on the device. (The soft keys are the buttons to the left and right of the center navigation wheel with the white dots on them) Keep these keys pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.

2. Release the stylus but keep the softkeys pressed when you see the following message on your device screen:
“Do you want to erase all user data and restore to manufacture default?”
3. Slide open the keyboard, and press R to restore to factory default or press X to exit the hard reset process.

This may take a few tries, as it's hard to hold the buttons and push the reset button.

HTC S720 Smartphone

Try a soft reset (remove and replace battery), If your sure you haven't installed anything that may have remapped the keys, next option is a hard reset (all data will be lost, make sure you back it up)

There are two methods to performing a hard reset
  • Select Start > Accessories > Clear Storage. Enter 1234 where prompted and select YES.
  • Power the device off. Press and hold the left and right soft keys. Power the device on while holding these keys. Follow the on-screen prompts to factory reset the device.
If you find you can hard reset using the second method you know that your keyboard is ok, if the it refuses to reset its looking like an electrical problem which could be the keyboard or motherboard..

best of luck

HTC TY II Product - messaging not working

You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.
