Printer paper says A4 on computer but printer itself sees to be defaulting to letter so wont print. How do I sort it?


Here are a couple of thoughts:

Open the Properties of the printer, then the Preferences from Control Panel or the Start Menu and change the defaults there. Changing from Word or other software doesn't make a permanent change.

A driver update for the printer might help too.

  1. Turn off the printer, and remove the Printhead out of the printer,
  2. Connect the printer and the computer with a USB cable and turn on the printer.
  3. Open this link in the computer:
Drivers Downloads Dell US

4.Select the operating system of the computer from the list of options.
5. Under the Firmware, select the right Firmware according to the printer model depending on Wifi mode.
6. Click "Get driver" and follow the onscreen instructions and update the Firmware software.
7. Reinsert the printhead and try printing and check.

I have a dell v305 printer that wont communicate to my computer when i try to print. The scanner works fine it just wont print it also said enable bidirectional communication where is that?


check for the printer drivers go to start and right click on my computer icon then click manager in the manager menu look for device manager click on that........
u will find list of devices of your system search the printer there and just update the driver by rt clicking on printer icon

I just had my computer serviced and cleared of virus. Now computer wont activate to communicate with printer. I've already tried everything suggested by the display. Computer has recognised the printer but...


delete the printer icon from the printer display window and reinstall.

you will need the driver CD that came with the printer if the printer model is not in the Windows printer install list.

Keep getting "Printer Offline" from Dell 1700 printer


go to the start menu
click on run
type services.msc
on the list go to Print Spooler
double click on print spooler and select automatic on startup type
now press on start.

if that doesn't work go to this microsoft website and click on the Fix It icon with the little man holding a wrench. run this and it will fix it.

Can get my dell922 to print


you will have to uninstall the software provided by dell , use revo uninstaller for this purpose , you can download it free from google
once unisatlled the revo uninstaller will give you options to delete the registry values, delete all the registry values , restart the computer , and reinstall the software and try to print document .
hope this should resolve your issue .

Al-1540 only scans, wont print says-data could not be sent to pri


it seems that the computer was trying to send the data to the printer through the wrong port. i went to the control panel in windows xp, and selected printers and scanners. and added a new printer (manually) as al-1540 cs on usb port 2. it alerted me that the software was not signed, i proceeded anyways. it asked if i wanted to keep the original printer , i said yes. and the test page printed away. so i would suggest people with similar problem to keep adding multiple copies of the printer again and again on usb ports 1,2,3... etc till it prints the test page. use the copy no. indicated in the printed test page to do all your print jobs in the future.
