Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Video's won't play...

Ok so I got my videos onto my Sansa, had a couple in .wmv and a few in .mpg formats. When I gave it a test, none of them showed up in the video folder on the player. So I went back, and saw that the demo vid was .avi and I put one of my .avi vids onto the player. When I tried that, it showed up, but when I tried playing it, it simply said to convert it with the Sansa Media Converter. So I tried that, but when I clicked to convert the videos, it seemed like it didn't even try, and simply said that the conversion failed (for no apparent reason)...

Its not playing videos

First step --
Download a PDF copy of the Sansa View manual. Here's a link:

There are two likely reasons for the video not to work;
1) The software that runs your Sansa View, known as 'firmware', is outdated;

2) Your video requires conversion before you download it.

1) Firmware update?
Download a copy of the Sansa Firmware Updater from here:

Start it on your computer, and follow the directions to update your Sansa View's firmware, if needed.

2) Download and install the Sansa Media Converter (SMC) from the same link above.
--Plug in your Sansa View to the computer, and run the SMC.
--Follow the directions to select your video. SMC processes one video at a time for upload into your Sansa player.

Another possibility - Try loading video from Windows Media Player 11;

From the manual, page 17--
"Your Sansa View player supports MPEG-4 Simple Profile up to VGA, H.264 Baseline Profile up to VGA, and WMV up to QVGA video formats.
That means you can simply drag and drop these files into the Video folder if you are using Windows Media Player 11."

Hopefully, that will help you get your videos in!

These devices have a limited set of movie formats that it will accept. Read the owners manual to find out what types those are and make sure the video you loaded onto it match what the device can play.

Videos list showing empty

You need to use the supplied Sansa Media Converter program to convert videos to a format the Sansa can handle. If you don't have the SMC, you may download it here.
