Toshiba Satellite A105 lcd display

Hello,
I have a problem with my display on my lcd screen. I can faintly see my start up window but I believe my backlight button maybe stuck but can't find it on this model. Can you help me out?

Unfortunately, I tried that solution already along with the Fn F5 solution and neither is working. In my research, I found that the problem may be that the backlight button (which is usually a small plastic button by the hinges) is stuck but for the life of me I can't find that button!

It's the LCD inverter, it's like the started circuit for a flourescent light that makes your backlight work.

Can be purchased online from a bunch of places.

Then remove the rubber stops and the screws from around the screen, CAREFULLY pry the bezel away from the screen and you will see the inverter at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE: This also applies to laptop screens that turn pink or red and ones that go bright and dark ar random. A good 85% of the time.

Cheers

The Satellite A 105 does not have an external switch to tell the laptop that the screen is open or closed. Instead there is a magnet in the uper right corner of the screen trim. This magnet activates a switch hidden in the laptop.

I have the same problem. I believe I found the problem. I don't know what you call it, but I believe on my laptop, the backlight starter is bad. I can't get any voltage out of it.

If you want to test the switch, you can change your power settings so that the computor goes into standby when you close the lid. Then when you close the lid, if your laptop hibernates, you know your switch is working.

Hi,

keep typing the combination of "Fn" and "F7" on the keypad .
note: you can find "Fn" on the lower left of the keyboard and "F7" on the topmost right of the keyboard...

Please let me know the results...
Thanks

The LCD assembly will have a part number either on a paper sticker or printed on some empty real estate. Check for one that matches the structure of part number(s) listed on eBay.

If you've replaced the LCD Panel already, then chances are good, the failing part may be the FLR inverter. It's a thin little chip about 3 or 4 inches in length that bridges the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. It's location varies from computer to computer though, so you may have to check with manufacturer documentation. They're not too terribly expensive to replace though, much cheaper than the LCD panel, anyways.

If you've got exacttly the same each time you're start, then the VGA card has issue, or even the motherboard and CPU.

If not then try to chock the base of the screen with two fingers when starting, if nothing happen try to chock the middle of the keyboard and several spot around it. (it's a little bit brutal but the easiest way to find a bad contact or dead components)

when you "adjust the angle of the screen", that can only be a faulty electrical connection. Try again at the mainboard connector.
