Question about Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector
Mine had a similar problem. Except it was Ka going off almost constantly. Luckily I was able to fix it, maybe it will work with laser constantly going off.
1. Disassemble the unit (there are 3 screws on the bottom)
2. The plastic casing will be free now to be pulled off.
3. Now you have the complete circuit board, you want to remove the metal channel casing that covers the rear part of the board. I believe there were 5 or so screw on the bottom you will need to get with a precision screw driver.
4. Once the metal cover is removed clean everything thoroughly with a q-tip. In my case the gold plated channel the metal case covered has some spots that were dirty and once that was clean I haven't had any other problems.
