Adding call waiting as a feature to your telephone can help you take calls that you are waiting for without having to stay off the phone until that important call comes in. With call waiting, you get a beep when you are on another call to let you know that another call is coming in. If you want to take the call, you follow the simple steps outlined in this article.

  1. ep 1 Order call waiting from your phone provider if you do not already have it. Cal waiting works best with caller ID features that give you the phone number and name of the person calling you. Phone numbers that have blocked numbers or use *67 to mask their caller ID will not show up on caller ID.
  2. Step 2 Take a call when your phone rings. While you are talking on the phone and hear a beep, you are receiving another phone call. Using your caller ID function, whether it's on your answering machine or on your handset for the telephone, see who is calling you. If you want to talk to them, quickly press your "talk" button to put the other call on hold or disconnect. Press "talk" again to take the incoming call.
  3. Step 3 Disregard the other phone call if you do not want to terminate the call you are on. The new call coming in may go to your answering machine. Or if you have the call back feature on your telephone, you can simply call *69. Your phone will dial the number of the person whose call you just missed.
  4. Step 4 Use call waiting as politely as you can. You might tell someone who you are talking to that you are expecting an important call and may have to terminate the call abruptly. Call waiting calls should be answered as quickly as you can. After four rings, most phone calls go right to the machine or people hang up. Promise to call your first caller back if you have to interrupt the call

you probably need to delete some of you calls and you may need to uplug all you phone jacks from the outlet and wait 3-5 min and plug them back up that seems to fix a lot of problems with cordless phones

Need to know how to record on the uniden 1480-4


Access the answering system from any handset by opening the menu and selecting "Ans. Setup". Wait until the system finishes its announcements, or press 5 (Stop) to skip them.
Press 8 (RecNewGreeting).
Wait for the system to say "Record greeting," then begin speaking.
When you're finished, press 8 to stop recording. The system plays back your new greeting.
To keep this greeting, press End. To re-record it, go back to step 2.

Both of my GE Dect 6.0 cordless phones, model #5-2811 say out of range or searching...out of the blue. How do I get my dial tone back???


Unlplug the power to all lines for 5 minutes, while waiting disconnect, inspect and clean the phone cords. Insert the phone cords back into the devices after 5 minutes of ALL devices being unpowered plug them all back in, Set each of the phones on the main receiver to "sync" them.

I would like for you to set up all your uniden phones for the charger jacks. Then please wait several minutes for the phones to gain a suitable charge for TESTING. Before picking up a phone to test it, please unplug all phones for electric power , THIS INCLUDES the charging jacks, answering machine, main unit etc. Wait one minute then plug all devices back in. If your still have issues, please take out the new battery that you purchased and try it on a different uniden phone. If the problem persists, then the battery (NEW) is a bad battery. If the problem does not persist, then you know it is the HANDSET. Please come back with more issues as I would love to provide expert solutions for you free of fee.

The cordless will not work that way. If you hit flash, that will put calls on hold, etc....

The only thing you can do is have the flash button on the 18D itself.

I am having problem with my cordless phone.


Another tip is to remove the battery from the handset for at least 5 seconds. You might want to get a voltage meter and check the voltage on that new battery - maybe it isn't charging properly.

BASE UNIT IS NOT WORKING AT ALL, NOT LINE


Have you unplugged power and replugged power. wait about 5 minutes check the outlet to see if the plug has power.
