Take the thing back to the store or call your service provider for an exchange.  You got a fu.k.d up router.

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

Have a WRT54G lately my hardwired desktop connection has been loosing it connection while my 2 laptops will stay connected with no problems.. only way hardwired connection will reconnect is to reboot...

How long have you been using the router? Might need to update the firmware on your WRT54G. But do it EXACTLY as instructed on the Linksys website, as incorrect attempt can result in need for new router. I know that sounds drastic, but you can do it just fine - just be aware that you have to follow the steps precisely as they are stated and in the correct order. Never had a problem myself, but have heard of those who did, and it was ALWAYS because they did not follow directions. If you are not comfortable doing it, get a "techie" friend to do it for you.

Sitecom WL-342 Wireless Router won't access internet.

Hello,

Make sure there is a network cable going from your ADSL modem into the WAN connection of the router.

If the ADSL modem is wireless, then it is also a router in whihc case you will want to bypass the WL-342 all together.

Thanks,

Pat

Trying to figure out why i have to connect the blue wire to my laptop from the router, i want a wireless connection?

You do not have to connect your laptop to your router if you want to use it wirelessly.
For doing the initial setup for the router although I would definitely recommend to connect both with a cable and not doing it wireless.
The main reason is, if you setup your security (WEP or better WPA, idealy WPA2), you will loose instantaneously the connection to your router. You will have to copy the network key to your laptop to reconnect to the router.
Therefore: connect your laptop with an ethernet cable to your router and follow the instructions in the user guide (if you don't have it, you can get it here. Setup your router manually and don't use "Wi-Fi Protected Setup button" - that way you know what is happening. Choose a long security key (63 characters) for WPA (or WPA2, if your computer can handle that) and leave everything else on default.
Copy the network key into a text document and save it on your computer, so you have it handy when the router asks for it.
Unplug the cable.
Check if you can connect.
Reconnect the cable to your router.
Change your SSID and use MAC filtering, unplug and check again for connectivity.

If this helps you, please leave a comment here, because it might assist others too.

Router won't log into it's IP address online

Is your desktop getting an ip address from the router?
You said that you reset the router, do you mean turning it on and off or pressing the reset button?

Connecting wireless adapter

There is some additional information that would be required before I answer your questions: 1. Which Operating System are we using. If it is Windows XP, which service pack (Control Panel -> System)? 2. Which Wireless Router or Access Point? 3. The computer is a laptop or a desktop 4. If it is a desktop, what is the distance between the router and the computer.
