How you could measure a distance of about 1 km in your neighbourhood

To measure it accurately use the longest measuring tape you can find (I have one that measures 30m). Extend it fully and starting from the beginning point lay this in the direction you wish to measure the road. At the 30m mark on the tape lay a tooth pick, or some other item with a sharp point, on the road with the point level with the 30m mark on the tape. Now without moving the toothpick hold the tape and walk in the direction you wish to measure until the beginning of the tape is level with the toothpick (check that this is accurate - best if you have somebody helping you). Now take the tooth pick and again place it on the road level with the 30m mark on the tape. Repeat this another 31 times and then on the next time measure only one metre. This will have taken you 1000 metres along the road.
Alternatively, make your self a wheel of circumference say one metre out of some suitable material (plywood). Attach an axle at the centre with a handle so that this wheel can easily revolve on the axle. Put a mark on the wheel at the circumference so that when you place the wheel on the road with this mark at your starting point on the road and then walk forward, you will be able to count the number of times it has rotated as you walk along in a straight line. When the wheel has completed 1000 rotations (with this mark touching the road) this is the 1 Kilometre distance measured.

How I Found My 'Drivelock Multibay Password'

If your reading this then your probably almost out of your mind with despair reading the hundreds of posts and articles saying to forget your data that you have to get a new hard drive,

I know how you feel as my HP pavilion has had the same blue screen asking for the 'drivelock multibay password' . the good news is i have fixed it just 5 mins ago.

I think that you have to get into the bios first. Lets see if I can show you how I helped it to boot up:
  1. at the blue screen I pressed the F10 Key which took me into setup
  2. i then selected the security tab
  3. and then I think I selected drivelock password
  4. and then selected the "Notebook hard drive" item where I tried to disable, with no success

PLEASE NOTE: at this point I noticed that each time that i tried to disable the password it kept returning to the item 'Notebook hard drive' . I thought to myself that maybe this is the password and not just an item on the list, so I carefully wrote down .. Notebook hard drive .. taking note of capitalization and spaces and then exited setup.
  5. I then noticed that there was nowhere to enter the password so i carefully typed .. Notebook hard drive .. onto the keyboard, and waited. After about 1 min a small 'OK' appeared inside the blue box and my heart leaped for joy inside my chest.
  6. I waited... and a black screen apeared with the wite cursor blinking
  7. and I waited... this time about 5 mins passed and then windows started to load. Thank God!
I hope you get some joy out of this post and it's not too late for your notebook.

above all have fun

If you leave it SWITCHED ON...UNDISTURBED then it will eventually reset itself

The important word is UNDISTURBED because if it is interrupted then the waiting time starts all over again

    E-machine is locked up

Try to reboot the machine in safe mode. This is generally done with the F8 key. To do this...start computer, make sure F lock key light is on and hold down the F8 function key. It will ask whether you want to start in several different ways: Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, Normal, etc. Try Safe Mode. Go to Start>Control Panel>System. Under System Properties>Device Manager and look for Yellow exclamation points. Delete all of the exclamation points (make sure you have your original system disk). The video camera will probably be listed. Hope this helps.

    Not printing too well

Do use genuine brother ink for testing: If you're lucky the filter in front of the nozzles (which is part of the printhead) is not clogged. Do the power cleaning twice: power up. push menu then start mono then four times arrow up. machine will display maintenance. push arrow up several times til 7 is displayed then Enter then arrow up til 6 is displayed. Push Enter. push arrow up til 3 then Enter: P cleaning_all Push start/mono. After machine has finished maintenance will be displayed. push arrow up til 0 (zero) then enter then puh arrow up til 9. machine will print a test sheet. Repeat procedure above if no good result. After three times without success the printhead is clogged due to wrong ink. ...and do use dye-ink only for brother printers (pigmented ink will clog the filter!)
