Question about Whirlpool ER6AHKXPQ Top Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Not getting cold

I've cleaned the coils, checked the fans, the temp control and the defrost timer - all ok.  Compressor is COLD to the touch, but nothing is iced over.  It just stopped cooling without any warning - no noises or smells.

Why is freezer/Frig at 51/59 degrees with both fans running?

Good Morning Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRT18G6JB6, is not cooling well. I also see that you have checked the gaskets, cleaned the condenser coil, and manually defrosted your refrigerator. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine why it is not cooling. Hope this is helpful,

-Best Regards-

Cooling quit suddenly in both freezer and fridge side. Pulled out unit and sounds like compressor is running and compressor fan (across coils) is running. Circulation fan in freezer is not running....

First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it seems
to be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Check cold control (thats where you turn it colder)

Hi My freezer is working great however my refridgerator side seems to be a tad warm, I have tried to clean the compressor and even turn it to cooler settings , this unit is only 1 year old

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover inside the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
heavy frost-
